The staff are amazing, warm, friendly, helpful. The hotel new and clean. We had a hiccup upon checking in as we had paid for an ocean view but were put in a garden view room - when we went back to the front desk, they quickly moved us. The room had a very slightly fishy smell but we were able to ignore it. The pool was warm and nice. The area around the hotel is lively all day. The bar was beautiful & drinks were tasty - food not so much and it was the only place to eat on the property (other restaurants are apparently not open yet).
Everything, including the store on the main floor, is extremely high priced and also taxed 10% with another 15% gratuity making everything very, very expensive. This is true everywhere in Nassau.
The disappointment of downtown (this applies to all downtown hotels) is that after 6pm when the cruise ships leave each day, literally everything outside closes down. You only have Oku across the street, a “Gourmet seafood” boil around the corner, or a $$$$ steakhouse with terrible service in the Margaritaville complex to eat, and absolutely nothing else to do other than sit at the bar or watch tv in the room.
Do not make the mistake of walking to the Fish Fry at Arawak Cay at night as we did - it is poorly lit, with no sidewalk in places, and motorcycles racing through the streets. Nothing happened to us but it was scary. Stay close to the hotel after dark.
Overall we had a lovely stay. The staff are what make this property desirable.
