Very convenient for South Rim Grand Canyon visit. Easy access to parking and free buses. The buildings are comfortable, but dated. No internet and no network TV. Staff friendly. We stayed in East which seemed much nicer than West.

The hotel has a nice central location with easy access to the park shuttle services. Rooms have decent beds but the bathroom is a bit dark. My biggest complaint is with the food services. Dinner service was pretty awful. You can select a protein and sides but the proteins were terrible. Dry tasteless meats. Food quality is not good. We switched to the Bright Angel Lodge for meals and were quite happy with their food and service.
The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable. It was within walking distance of places to eat and buy groceries. We were able to get taxi service when needed also.
It's not cheap for what it is but you are paying for the convenience of the location. Ideally situated in the park, the hotel also has a restaurant and cafe, the supermarket is nearby and the shuttle stops there. Heat and AC, TV and a warm shower are luxuries in a national park and they all worked well. I didn't think we would have wifi either, but our phones did have data. Walls are really thin though and people made a lot of noise especially really early in the morning with doors slamming and people talking in the hallways.
Location is what makes Yavapai Lodge a great place and the reason we chose it. The room is not fancy but offers the space we needed and a comfy bed. We would have liked having a microwave but that wasn't a deal breaker.
