We enjoyed our stay. The nearby beach area was spectacular with deep history of native Hawaiian traditions, including some fascinating petroglyphs etched into the rocks along the mouth of the Wailua River. The hotel itself is well-run and clean with the usual Hilton amenities. Did not appreciate having to pay for parking, it’s not as if the hotel is in the heart of a city with scarce land, quite the opposite.

It’s fine, but not if you don’t like roaches

The hotel was fine, I only needed it for a place to sleep that was pet friendly since I had my dog with me. However, the hotel felt very dated and even worse - I found dozens of roaches in my room even though I was barely there. For the cost per night (on top of resort and park fees which added another $50/day) I would not suggest staying at this property. I also was told that I couldn’t leave my dog in the room alone, which is fine, but that I also couldn’t bring him to the pool patio area. He’s under 20 pounds and is extremely well behaved but it was disappointing to not be able to even use the pool. Even though I called before booking and asked about restrictions and they said there were none

I wish I'd known up front about the $25/day for parking and another $25/day "resort fee". We felt a bit like it was bait and switch. Also, I think the place is a bit run down. I understand they are probably still digging out from the Covid years, so it's understandable. But a nice walkway to the beach wouldn't be too costly. Instead, it's a worn old dirt path. Come on, this is the Hilton!

The staff were not friendly. When I arrived they were not very welcoming. Also, they offer fish feeding as an activity offered by the hotel. The first day when we wanted to participate, we came to the lobby and found no staff there for the activity. At 7:59 which is 1 minute before the activity I asked the staff if they were doing fish feeding at 8am. She said “yeah, in 2 minutes.” After waiting for a bit, 8:09 am, no one came. A man, who also is staying at the hotel saw us standing by the Koi fish pond and he said, “Did you know you can go up to the front desk and ask for some food to feed the fish?” That’s when I found out that this is what I had to do. The staff who I asked didn’t care to help and never bothered to check back with me. Another frustrating thing too is that I had called 6 months ahead of time when I reserved the hotel that I had an elderly in a wheelchair and 3 young kids. I needed two rooms next to each other and did not want to be far apart from them. They said ok and it was settled but when we got there it was not the case. We finally did get it resolved eventually but we were one room away from each other. After two days there were cockroaches in one of the rooms. So we ended up splitting up and my 2 kids and elderly mom had to be far away in another direction of the wing. This was very upsetting. Another disappointment is that they charge a parking fee per day and a resort fee per day. This is ridiculous! The resort fee should include the parking fee.
