You can't beat the location for this property. It doesn't have its own restaurant or lounge, which would be our only complaint, but it is right next door to two other lodges where you can get food and/or hang out. The view from our "partial view" room was great.
Excellent location in the park and conviently located right on the shuttle bus route! Overall very nice. I would have like to have had a microwave in the room to go with the coffee maker and refridgerator. Minor point.
Very nice room definitely not a one star. Perfect peaceful comfortable place!
This old property is conveniently located on the rim and well cared for. Canyon View would be better than the road view that we had. Rooms are dark, but who wants to spend much time in the room? It was lovely to open the window for fresh air, but the adjacent rooms kept their air con on, making an awful noise, not to mention wasting energy. Not sure if guests can be encouraged to open the window!
Location is what you pay for. Right on the rim trail and we saw things later in the afternoon and earlier in the morning than just about everyone else. E also has a partial canyon view which was good. The rooms are fine— think 2* hotel. It’s definitely an older lodge with a few somewhat recent updates but others still need attention. The shower head has very low and I had to squat to get under it and they obviously have a water saving showerhead bc it came out fine in the tub but struggled to rinse off in the shower. Yes, I agree with water conservation but the old toilet was probably a 3 gallon tank and wasted much more water than the shower. All in all, I’d give it a 3.5* and that’s primarily for location. I figured you don’t go to the Grand Canyon everyday and wanted to make the best use of our time so it was worth that.
Our room was updated and clean. Parking is very limited and we finally found a place on the street to park We can into the park after dark and with the limited lights it was diffcult to find our way around.
Like it.. Very good service. Faster. We will be back son. Thank you
Right on the canyon! It was perfect for catching sunset and then sunrise!
Loved it, located looking out our window onto the rim
Great location and comfortable beds. Person at reception desk circled the wrong building and directed us in the opposite direction of our lodge, even after I questioned him about it. We finally returned to the front desk and a different receptionist seemed to not care much about the mix up. The coffee maker in the room did not work, as it was missing the bottom piece of the basket. Again, beds were decently comfortable and stepping out to walk the south rim was worth the minor hiccups. Would probably try someplace else if to visit again.
Lack of access to elevator an issue. We were a couple 80 & 77 years old. Also thought that dining options were very average. These comments made in view of room cost of $250+ per night.
Location was incredible! Walk outside and you are on the rim of the canyon. Easy to observe sunset and morning light. Got lucky with parking and found a place next door to the Thunderbird. Instead of having dinner in one of the restaurants, we bought picnic groceries and wine in Flagstaff and enjoyed them in the room. Beds were very comfortable!
Very updated bathroom and clean modern room. No food but bright angel lodge next door did and was very good.
Finding the hotel was very difficult. There are no signs and once you pass it you have to go all the way around again "One Way road" but we found it. You have to walk down to the next hotel to check in. Nice place but very crowded. Big fireplace and it has a great family feel. We checked in and got all our stuff, went to the room and WOW What a view !! Great room and Great view . You can't ask for anything else .
