Find cheap car rental deals in Tijuana, Mexico

The city beneath the world’s busiest international border crossing is emerging from its complex reputation to become one of the most exciting destinations in Mexico. The Museo de las Californias offers a world-class look at the history of the area, while the beaches buzz with an energetic atmosphere. Wander down Pasaje Rodriguez to snack on street food, and to gawp at the murals on the walls.

Rent a car through Orbitz once you’re across the border, and the rest of northern Baja California opens up to you. You can explore the city with ease, and roam to Rosarito Beach, Parque Morelos, or Tecate.

Tijuana and beyond: Northern Baja’s wine and wonders

Tijuana is the first destination you reach when crossing the border from California, but it shouldn’t be the last. Explore the city center, then drive out to nearby destinations of Baja beauty. We’ve highlighted three stops to add to your itinerary.

La Revolución

Tijuana’s most famous destination is the thoroughfare that runs through the heart of the city. Restaurants, music venues, and the iconic Tijuana Arch bring this street to life. Wander down the road, turning off to find the small galleries, independent cinemas, and museums that pepper the modern heart of the town. Don’t miss the Caesar Salad at Restaurante Caesar’s, where the dish was born.

Ensenada

The city of Ensenada is less busy than its sleepless northern neighbor, but it’s no less exciting. White sharks roam the seas here, and water explodes out of the marine geyser known as La Bufadora. Outside of the town, discover the wonderful wine country of Valle de Guadalupe, where the rolling valleys host over 150 vineyards of increasing international acclaim.

Journey time: Around 1 hour 30 minutes

Distance: Approximately 85 miles

San Felipe

Most of Baja California’s most famous beaches are over a day’s journey away, right down at the bottom of the peninsula. The irresistibly laid-back beach town of San Felipe in the Gulf of California, however, is a much more accessible beach destination. Laze on the beaches during the day, then enjoy margaritas and shrimp cocktails in the evening.

Journey time: Around four hours

Distance: Approximately 350 miles
