Waimea Canyon Experience

by Polynesian Adventure Tours - Gray Line Hawaii Duration 5h 45m Free cancellation available No booking or credit card fees
per adult Price is $91

Known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, the Waimea Canyon's dramatic landscape is one of Hawaii's greatest natural wonders. Explore its lush tropical scenery and deep valleys as well as the quaint island towns nearby on this guided tour of the Garden Isle.

Set out from your hotel for a half-day journey around Waimea Canyon State Park. Stretching 10 miles (16 km) long, dropping to depths of 3,000 feet (900 m), and spanning a mile (1.6 km) wide, this stunning canyon was formed over millennia by volcanic activity and erosion from rainfall on the central peak of Mount Waialeale. As you tour, frequent stops allow you to stretch your legs, breathe in the cool and fragrant mountain air, and snap photos of the postcard-worthy panorama before you.

Leave the canyon behind and ride through Hanapepe Town, once a port and hub for training sailors in the 1950s. In the Kiahuna area, stop for lunch at an open-air restaurant in a casual clubhouse setting. On the return loop back to your hotel, pass by the Spouting Horn blowhole—this geyser-like spray of water shoots upward when waves rush under the lava shelf and burst through a small opening in the surface.

This should not be marketed as 'Waimea Canyon Experience' when literally only 20 minutes is spent at the Canyon. I also really didn't like having to call the tour company after waiting 45 minutes to be picked up. Overall a complete waste of money.
