Description

All starts with a pick up from your London Hotel.

For more than 400 years Kent wears the proud title of “Garden of England”. And Kent got this title for nothing - dating back to a dish of Kentish cherries which particularly satisfied King Henry VIII.

During this tour you will explore the famous White Cliffs of Dover and a historic Cathedral City of Canterbury with a breath-taking Cathedral. Pilgrims have made their way to Canterbury Cathedral since the Middle Ages and it greatly increased after the murder of Thomas Becket there in 1170.

A designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, Canterbury Cathedral holds a special place in British history. Not an ordinary Cathedral, it has a long history that is often described as ‘England in Stone’. Founded by St Augustine in 600 AD, the Cathedral today is one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in England, and the first building in the country to be redesigned in this popular style in 1774.

Afternoon you travel to the coastline at Dover to enjoy the most spectacular view of an official icon of Britain – the White Cliffs of Dover. Although the cliffs are well known for their views and famous white chalk, there is also a lot of history to be found.
For example: two wrecks can be seen at the base of the cliffs; visit Fan Bay Deep Shelter or South Foreland Lighthouse and, of course, the infamous Mrs Knott’s tea room.

With the port of Dover right on its doorstep, it is Europe’s busiest international ferry port and the nearest port to France, just 21 miles away.

A short drive up the road from the White Cliffs and the Dover is Dover Castle. The most iconic of all English fortresses guarding the gateway for centuries, known as 'The Key to England' . Built entirely of Caen stone, it's 100 feet square and just under 100 feet tall.
