Strike out into the waters of Honoka'ope Bay on a classic Hawaiian outrigger canoe to spend the morning amid the wonders of the coast. You can paddle through the deep blue waters, jump in for a swim or some snorkeling, and learn about the terrific marine world that lies just offshore.
You meet your host right by the beach for an introduction to the canoe, built in the style of the traditional wa'a kaukahi that carried some of the first Hawaiian people around the islands. Paddle out to sea and look back at the peaks of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa looming over the island. Watch for sea birds, dolphins, and whales as you follow the golden, sandy crescent carved out of Oahu's shore.
Along the way, your guide tells you stories that reveal the bay's fascinating history, and then you get some time to take a dip in the warm waters for yourself. Try out the snorkeling gear for a dive that reveals the schools of colorful tropical fish before the time comes to paddle back to shore.
