per adult Price is $135

Fire knife dancers and engaging storytellers await at the Luau Kalamaku, where you can immerse yourself in the legends of ancient Hawaii. Take a train ride around the historic Kilohana Plantation to see the grounds, sip a refreshing Mai Tai, and enjoy a delectable buffet of delicious island cuisine.

Arrive at the 105-acre (42-ha) working Kilohana Plantation and start your evening with a ride on a train with railway cars that are reproductions of models used during the time of Kalākaua, Hawaii's last reigning king. A local guide narrates as you chug along, so you can learn about the history of Kauai's early plantation days as you see where fruits and vegetables like papaya, bananas, and mangoes are grown. Hop off partway through to meet farm animals like pigs, goats, sheep, cattle, and horses before looping back to the luau grounds.

Try your hand at traditional Hawaiian crafts and fun, family-friendly games. When you hear the conch shell sound, gather around as the savory kalua pig is unearthed in a time-honored imu ceremony. Hula dancers sway in traditional dress to the sounds of Tahitian drumbeats, and award-winning musicians take you on a journey of song and dance through the South Pacific. Savor a buffet of island fare like lomi lomi salmon and pineapple upside-down cake, and, once the sun sets, watch flaming poi ball twirlers bring Kauai's mythology to fiery life.

Sample menu includes:

Starters:

  • Kauai fresh green salad with papaya seed dressing or balsamic vinaigrette

  • Vegetarian tofu salad with Maui onion

Would give 5 stars, please see below why i didn’t. Do not miss! Not your typlical luau! Great show wouldn’t miss it! I was told they would meet us out at the front of our hotel at 3:55pm. We were there 3:45pm. Got a phone call stating we were not at the correct pickup place. They called at 3:59pm stating they had been waiting at the pickup place for 15 minutes and couldn’t wait any longer. I was upset, my mom can’t walk very far and I knew they had an open bar so I thought transport is perfect. I had an email confirmation stating they would pick me up at the front of my hotel and they listed my hotel by name at 3:55pm. I even emailed them again the week before and confirmed the pickup and time. The driver, once they realized I was given incorrect pickup information, still acted like we are the reason we made everyone late and it was our fault. We were late,we almost missed the train ride and we didn’t get a chance to look around & missed the salad course. Take Uber.

The kalua pork was great, but too many people to serve efficiently and this is nowhere the beach so the experience was more akin to a buffet restraunt and not an authentic luau. The trainis OK for kids, boring for adults. Choose a smaller venue for a "real" luau experience.

We enjoyed the luau food and entertainment but was disappointed that the train ride was not included. We purchased this tour from Expedia mainly for the plantation train ride and tour. The description made no indication that there was a separate charge for this activity. Very disappointed as we could have gone elsewhere for a luau.
