However, these positive feelings may be short-lived upon realizing that the reserved seat isn\u2019t an aisle or window \u2013 but the dreaded middle seat.<\/p>\n

A recent Orbitz\u00ae survey revealed that more than a third (35%) of recent travelers identified \u201cgetting the middle seat\u201d as the worst possible \u201cflight fail\u201d. Only crying babies and drunk or \u201caromatic\u201d seatmates were seen as being worse than the middle seat, while maladies such as getting airsick on a flight were actually seen as preferable to being squeezed between two strangers.<\/p>\n

\u201cTravel is fun. But getting the middle seat is not. Orbitz believes in rewarding its customers \u2013 and few customers deserve rewarding more than those who are relegated to the middle seat,\u201d said Ramses Meijer, General Manager of Orbitz. \u201cTo recognize these intrepid travelers who brave the middle seat, we are looking to upgrade one lucky person to first class on their next journey.\u201d<\/p>\n

To enter Orbitz\u2019 \u201cMiddle Seat Selfie Sweepstakes\u201d, wannabe First Class passengers simply need to follow Orbitz on Twitter or Instagram and post a picture with hashtag #MiddleSeatSelfieSweepstakes between now and\u00a0September 10th<\/span>. One random winner will be selected for the grand prize of a flight upgrade and\u00a0$1,000<\/span>\u00a0in Orbucks, which can be used like cash on an Orbitz hotel reservation. Survey Methodology:
