For New Yorkers accustomed to the wonders of a western metropolis, nothing could be more fascinating than traveling to an eastern counterpart. Fly from New York to Islamabad to experience one of Pakistan s largest cities and most cosmopolitan areas. The John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) is only a 45-minute drive or subway ride away from Manhattan, and a flight to Islamabad is approximately 20 hours with connections in cities like London, Doha or Abu Dhabi.
The home of Pakistan s president, prime minister and government buildings, Islamabad is a green city with a lot going on. It has plenty of restaurants and shops, but chances are you re here to see beautiful architectural structures like Faisal Mosque or the Pakistan Monument Museum. Nature fans will enjoy the nearby Margalla Hills and Pir Sohawa resort. Islamabad is also used as a base camp for visits to Taxila, a nearby archeological treasure.
When you fly from New York to Islamabad, you'll arrive at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport (ISB), which is located 8 miles from the city. Take the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metrobus to reach the city or hail a taxi. The latter is an affordable and safe way to get around town during your stay. Travel to Islamabad is ideal from November to February, which is the coolest, driest time of year with temperatures in the 60s.
