In the wake of coronavirus travel restrictions, the hotel brand finally revealed the recipe for its beloved cookies back in April 2020, and you can <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.hilton.com\/static-doubletree-reveals-cookie-recipe.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">find it here to re-create at home<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong>: (Makes 26 cookies)<\/p>\n<p>\u00bd pound butter, softened (2 sticks)<br \/>\n\u00be cup + 1 tablespoon granulated sugar<br \/>\n\u00be cup packed light brown sugar<br \/>\n2 large eggs<br \/>\n1 \u00bc teaspoons vanilla extract<br \/>\n\u00bc teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice<br \/>\n2 \u00bc cups flour<br \/>\n1\/2 cup rolled oats<br \/>\n1 teaspoon baking soda<br \/>\n1 teaspoon salt<br \/>\nPinch cinnamon<br \/>\n2\u00a0 2\/3 cups Nestle Tollhouse semi-sweet chocolate chips<br \/>\n1 \u00be cups chopped walnuts<\/p>\n<p>Cream butter, sugar and brown sugar in the bowl of a stand mixer on medium speed for about 2 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Add eggs, vanilla and lemon juice, blending with mixer on low speed for 30 seconds, then medium speed for about 2 minutes, or until light and fluffy, scraping down bowl.<\/p>\n<p>With mixer on low speed, add flour, oats, baking soda, salt and cinnamon, blending for about 45 seconds. Don\u2019t over mix.<\/p>\n<p>Remove bowl from mixer and stir in chocolate chips and walnuts.<\/p>\n<p>Portion dough with a scoop (about 3 tablespoons) onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper about 2 inches apart.<\/p>\n<p>Preheat oven to 300\u00b0F. Bake for 20 to 23 minutes, or until edges are golden brown and center is still soft.<\/p>\n<p>Remove from oven and cool on baking sheet for about 1 hour.<\/p>\n<p>Cook\u2019s note: You can freeze the unbaked cookies, and there\u2019s no need to thaw. Preheat oven to 300\u00b0F and place frozen cookies on parchment paper-lined baking sheet about 2 inches apart. It&#8217;s noted as one of two places in Puerto Rico\u2014the other being a restaurant called <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Barrachina\u2014<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">claiming to be where the Pi\u00f1a Colada was invented. The Hilton property&#8217;s claim, however, is backed by a 2004 gubernatorial proclamation, supporting the drink\u2019s 50th anniversary there. As the story goes, bartender\u00a0Ram\u00f3n \u201cMonchito\u201d Marrero created the pi\u00f1a colada\u00a0there in 1954, and was rewarded for his efforts in 1978 when Puerto Rico named the cocktail its national drink. Back then, the hotel hosted popular nightly dances that often attracted about 1,200 guests. As the evening wore on, some of these dance party patrons got the late-night munchies and headed to the hotel&#8217;s restaurant. Looking to offer them something more interesting than ham and eggs, chef Fred Schmidt whipped up this filling sandwich, which a century later, remains\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a Louisville classic. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brownhotel.com\/dining\/hot-brown\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Follow this recipe to make your own delicious Hot Brown.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong>: (Serves 2)<\/p>\n<p>2 oz. whole butter<br \/>\n2 oz. all-purpose flour<br \/>\n8 oz. heavy cream<br \/>\n8 oz. whole milk<br \/>\n\u00bd cup of Pecorino Romano cheese<br \/>\n(plus 1 tablespoon for garnish)<br \/>\npinch of ground nutmeg<br \/>\nsalt and pepper to taste<br \/>\n14 oz. sliced roasted turkey breast, slice thick<br \/>\n4 slices of Texas toast (crust trimmed)<br \/>\n4 slices of crispy bacon<br \/>\n2 Roma tomatoes, sliced in half<br \/>\npaprika<br \/>\nparsley<\/p>\n<p>In a two\u2011quart saucepan, melt butter and slowly whisk in flour until combined and forms a thick paste (roux). Continue to cook roux for two minutes over medium\u2011low heat, stirring frequently. Whisk heavy cream and whole milk into the roux and cook over medium heat until the cream begins to simmer, about 2\u20113 minutes. Remove sauce from heat and slowly whisk in Pecorino Romano cheese until the Mornay sauce is smooth. Add nutmeg, salt and pepper to taste.<\/p>\n<p>For each Hot Brown, place two slices of toast with the crusts cut off in an oven safe dish \u2013 one slice is cut in half corner to corner to make two triangles and the other slice is left in a square shape &#8211; then cover with 7 ounces of turkey. Take the two halves of Roma tomato and two toast points and set them alongside the base of the turkey and toast. Next, pour one half of the Mornay sauce to completely cover the dish. Sprinkle with additional Pecorino Romano cheese. Place the entire dish in the oven. Suggested bake time is 20 minutes at 350\u00ba.
