Young queers of every race, gender identify and jaw-dropping fashion choice flock here in summer to see and be seen while soaking up some stellar rays.<br \/>\n<strong>But&#8230;\u00a0<\/strong>Plan for an Uber; it&#8217;s quite the trek on public transportation.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>&#8230;leave your heart in San Francisco\u00a0<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Foggy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orbitz.com\/San-Francisco-Hotels.d178305.Travel-Guide-Hotels\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">San Francisco<\/a> isn&#8217;t always a sun worshiper&#8217;s paradise (especially in summer, ironically), but when sunny skies prevail there&#8217;s nothing quite like stunning <strong>Baker Beach<\/strong>. Expect jaw-dropping views of the Golden Gate Bridge, a rainbow of ages, races and body types, and some very frigid waters. It&#8217;s about a 20-minute drive from the city.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>&#8230;understand why the Midwest is best<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.orbitz.com\/Chicago-Hotels.d178248.Travel-Guide-Hotels\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chicago<\/a> is our kind of town (yeah, even in winter), but summers are like nowhere else. Angelenos tend to take the season for granted while New Yorkers use it as an excuse to flee the sweaty city. In Chicago, the favorite thing to do from June to August is simply stay put and that includes plopping one&#8217;s booty down at <strong>Hollywood<\/strong> (aka Osterman) <strong>Beach , <\/strong>a glorious, crescent-shaped stretch of sand frequented by hundreds of queer, corn-fed beach bods.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>But&#8230;<\/strong> don&#8217;t try riding waves. And where they tend to hang out on sunny days (which are plentiful in this sun-drenched Florida city) is at packed <strong>Sebastian Street Beach<\/strong>, which just happens to be steps away from both the lion share of gay-oriented lodging, but also towering beach behemoth&#8217;s like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orbitz.com\/Fort-Lauderdale-Hotels-W-Fort-Lauderdale.h2335216.Hotel-Information\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">W Fort Lauderdale<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orbitz.com\/Fort-Lauderdale-Hotels-The-Westin-Fort-Lauderdale-Beach-Resort.h17159.Hotel-Information\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort<\/a>.<br \/>\n<strong>But&#8230;<\/strong> It&#8217;s illegal to drink alcohol on the beach (although people do it).<\/p>\n<h1><strong>&#8230;hang at a strand steeped in stardom<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Once upon a time in Delaware queer mecca <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orbitz.com\/Rehoboth-Beach-Hotels.d6055674.Travel-Guide-Hotels\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rehoboth Beach<\/a>, aviator Louisa de Pont Carpenter, bisexual gal pal Tallulah Bankhead and other celebs used to cavort discreetly at her oceanfront property which became a quiet gay haven. By the &#8217;80s, the scene moved to the end of the Boardwalk (near aptly named Queen Street) and today <strong>Poodle Beach<\/strong> (LOL) revels in sun-baked queerness.<br \/>\n<strong>But&#8230;<\/strong> Arrive early on summer weekends. We&#8217;re as surprised as anyone that the best clothing-optional beach (for gays and straights alike) is in this sun-drenched military town. But thanks to a wide strand, gentle waves and relative seclusion, <strong>Black&#8217;s Beach <\/strong>is hands down (make that pants off!) the best beach in America for queers\u2014and straights\u2014to bare all.<br \/>\n<strong>But&#8230; <\/strong>The hike down is pretty awful. Not only does this city boast Powell Books, a mad food cart scene and breathtaking Mount Hood, but in summer, queer buns can be sunned at not one, but two LGBTQIA-frequented beaches! <strong>Collins Beach<\/strong> on Sauvie Island couldn&#8217;t be more idyllic and we love that women and trans people can be spotted in large numbers. <strong>Rooster Rock<\/strong>, meanwhile, offers a hidden (and oft-frisky) haven for the fellas. Oregon has lax nudity laws; clothing is optional at both beaches.<br \/>\n<strong>But&#8230;<\/strong> a rainy winter can make both beaches harder to access.<\/p>\n<h1>&#8230;lounge poolside instead<\/h1>\n<p>Love the scene, but hate the sand? Las Vegas has you covered. Long-running pool party <strong>Temptation Sundays<\/strong> at the Oasis Pool at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orbitz.com\/Las-Vegas-Hotels-Luxor-Hotel-And-Casino.h15237.Hotel-Information\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Luxor Hotel and Casino<\/a> is a boisterous afternoon that took a break in 2020 (for obvious reasons), but gives visiting queers respite from the hetero day parties elsewhere on the Strip.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a splashy affair full of Sin City high jinks like booze, loud jams and go go dancers, and includes an obvious perk the beach can&#8217;t deliver\u2014unicorn floaties.<br \/>\n<strong>But&#8230;<\/strong> This &#8220;beach&#8221; only happens May through September.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>&#8230;join a sunset drum circle<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-79174\" src=\"https:\/\/www.orbitz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/little-beach-maui.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.orbitz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/little-beach-maui.jpeg 1000w, https:\/\/www.orbitz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/little-beach-maui-300x169.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.orbitz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/little-beach-maui-768x432.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.orbitz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/little-beach-maui-600x338.jpeg 600w, https:\/\/www.orbitz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/little-beach-maui-560x315.jpeg 560w, https:\/\/www.orbitz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/little-beach-maui-604x340.jpeg 604w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Little Beach<\/strong> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orbitz.com\/Maui-Hotels.d180073.Travel-Guide-Hotels\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maui<\/a> is awesome. Seriously, just get here. Not only does the low-key crowd embody Hawaii&#8217;s aloha spirit, but the water is warm, the waves are just the right height and you&#8217;re thousands of miles from mainland drama. Best of all, every Sunday at sunset, a crowd of hundreds gather to beat on bongos, gyrate to flaming hula hoops and express themselves freely\u2014as in completely freely; Little Beach is clothing optional (queers congregate on the north end).<br \/>\n<strong>But&#8230;<\/strong> You&#8217;ll need to fly a minimum 2,500 miles to get
