\"vegas-blogger1\"Doing a blog like this isn\u2019t all fun and games, you know.\u00a0 Okay, it is mostly fun and games.\u00a0 But sometimes I can find myself clocking an awful lot of miles trying to look like I\u2019m \u201crelaxing.\u201d Okay, no whining.\u00a0 The point is, I thought it would be fun just to share one typically hectic day in my life with you all.\u00a0 Let\u2019s take the Friday before last\u2026<\/p>\n

I woke up in a spacious junior suite on one of the Palazzo<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s upgraded Concierge levels. While Palazzo & Venetian<\/a><\/strong> have always been one of
\nmy favorite LasVegas hotels<\/a><\/strong> on the Strip for many reasons, the Concierge level adds so much to the already high amenity level here (premium betting, motorized curtains, body jets in the shower, DVD player on one of two big flatscreens, multifunction Brother fax\/scanner<\/strong>). Grabbing breakfast in the sprawling concierge lounge (a modest rate upgrade for 3 meals and evening cocktails, free DVD library and more), I caught up with news and e-mails using the free business
\ncenter computers before heading downstairs to the new Azure club pool<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\"LasIn contrast to the other club pools here, Azure isspacious
\nand luxurious, with two pools, a big hot tub, lots of cabanas and daybeds,
\npassed amenities, signature cocktails, Wolfgang Puck food<\/strong> (stunning lobster
\nsalad, drool-worthy hamburger), and even Canyon Ranch Spa services available.
\nSpeaking of Canyon Ranch, I popped over to see Dana Scali, my favorite
\naesthetician at the adjacent spa, who is her own best advertisement <\/span>(how many Playboy models can you get a
\nfacial from? Guess.), then did a tequila shot at Venetian\u2019s crazy-hot club pool
\nTAO Beach<\/strong> with my friends Joe Vargas and hostess
\nSharri.<\/p>\n

No time to get distracted by bikinis and booze, though — since
\nit\u2019s opening day of the World Series of Poker<\/strong>, my next stop was the Rio<\/a><\/strong>
\nconvention center, where it all takes place (still going on — and free to
\nspectators) to wish my poker pro friend Jennifer Harman good luck in her first
\nof several tournaments (you did see my Top 10 Poker Rooms<\/a><\/strong> blog, right?) <\/span>and then checked into the
\nMetro Suite at the Flamingo<\/a><\/strong>. I mentioned the Metro in last week\u2019s blog, New Las Vegas hotel suites<\/a><\/strong>… there
\nare plenty of lavish suites in this town, but this one actually makes you feel
\ncooler just being in it. By pure luck, my old friend Max Burgos (who manages
\ncomedian Eddie Izzard) is also playing in the tournament and can\u2019t find a room.
\nLuckily, I have two (guess I\u2019ll have to put off my plans to reenact The
\nHangover).<\/p>\n

\"LasSpeaking of comedians, one of my favorites, Rocky Laporte<\/strong>, is
\nheadlining at the Improv at Harrah\u2019s<\/a><\/strong> (love his line about practicing to gamble
\non the plane by flushing dollars down the toilet). But before that, I have a
\nchampagne date in the new Krug room at Guy Savoy in Caesars Palace<\/a><\/strong>, an
\nultra-exclusive collaborative experience with the famous champagne producers
\n(the first of its kind in the U.S. — only in Vegas indeed) within what is already
\none of the world\u2019s greatest restaurants. Unfortunately, I have to take charming
\nmanager Franck Savoy\u2019s rain check to stay for dinner, despite being plied with
\nseveral savory snacks from his gorgeous French hostess Ilona.<\/p>\n

After Rocky\u2019s
\nset, I meet Jessie Gibson, one of my independent promoter friends, for a drink
\nat Planet Hollywood<\/a>\u2019s sexycool StripHouse<\/strong> before helping him usher a group of
\ngirls from Vancouver (Hi Amanda!) into Priv\u00e9 nightclub<\/strong>, one of whom manages to
\nupset a bouncer three times her weight and get ejected in less than an hour
\n(this is such a daily occurrence you wonder why these security guys are even
\nphased by it).<\/p>\n

Ending my tourist outreach for the evening, I scoot to the
\nMediterranean-themed Lavo at Palazzo<\/strong>, to meet up with adult actress Sasha Grey<\/strong>,
\nwho\u2019s hosting a party at the club tonight to celebrate her mainstream film The
\nGirlfriend Experience. Sasha, who couldn\u2019t be more different off-screen, trades
\nnotes with me on what to do tomorrow\u2026and with that, 18 hours later, my day
\nfinally ends! There\u2019s a premium Metro suite bed with my name on it…<\/p>\n

Insider Tip:<\/strong> Vegas has been busting out with do-it-yourself
\nexperiences<\/strong> in cooking, massage, mixology, stand-up comedy (not to mention all
\nour karaoke bars) but this has to top them all: Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay<\/a><\/strong> is
\nnow offering PADI\/NAUI-certified scuba divers the chance to swim with the
\nsharks<\/strong>, while up to four friends watch.<\/p>\n
