\nTravelers should prepare to spend a little extra if they’re checking more than one bag on US Airways<\/strong> flights<\/a>.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

The airline announced Tuesday it will begin charging passengers $25 for each second
\nchecked bag, starting in May.<\/o:p><\/p>\n

The service fee, similar to one announced by United Airlines<\/a><\/strong> earlier
\nthis month, will affect travel<\/strong><\/a> on or after May 5, 2008, with airline tickets<\/a><\/strong> purchased
\non or after February 26, 2008.<\/o:p><\/p>\n

The policy will apply to all flights<\/a><\/strong> within the<\/st1:country-region> United States and to and from Canada<\/a><\/strong>, Latin America<\/a><\/strong>, the Caribbean<\/a> <\/strong> and Europe<\/a><\/strong>. <\/o:p><\/p>\n

Fees will be waived for all Dividend Miles Preferred members, confirmed
\nFirst Class and Envoy passengers, Star Alliance Silver and Gold Status members,
\nactive military personnel (in uniform with identification, unaccompanied minors
\nand people checking assistive devices.<\/p>\n

The fee will not be included in airfares<\/a><\/strong>, so customers will have to pay at an airport kiosk with a credit card or at
\nthe check-in counter with a credit card, check or cash.<\/p>\n
