1. Le Chateau Frontenac<\/strong><\/p>\n

Patterned after medieval chateaux in France’s Loire Valley and boasting a luxurious facade topped with steeples, this 19th century hotel has come to symbolize Quebec City. Sitting on the Cap-aux- Diamants cliff and supplying striking views of the St. Lawrence River, it is also said to be themost photographed hotel in the world.<\/p>\n

2. Porte Saint-Louis (St. Louis Gate)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Constructed in 1693, \u00a0Porte Saint-Louis is part of the fortifications that make Quebec City so singular. As the only walled city in North America, these ramparts emphasize Quebec’s old world ambiance. There are four other gates that provide entrance to Old Quebec City but Porte-Saint-Louis is the most popular.<\/p>\n

3. Dufferin Terrace<\/strong><\/p>\n

This lovely wooden boardwalk runs along the St. Lawrence River and serves up panoramic views from every angle. Named for the governor who ordered the boardwalk to be constructed in 1838, it’s an Old Quebec City hallmark that’s filled with locals strolling in summer and whipping down the long slide at the end of the terrace in the winter.<\/p>\n

4. The Parliament Building<\/strong><\/p>\n

An imposing \u00a0Second Empire structure that was modeled after Paris’ Louvre, the Parliament Building sits on a hill and is encircled by a lush garden. Located just outside the gates of Old Quebec, this historic site house’s Quebec’s national assembly \u00a0as well as restaurants and exhibits.<\/p>\n

Also called the National Battlefields Parks, this lush, green space is Canada’s first national historic park. Covered with emerald meadows and towering trees, the Plains of Abraham is a community meeting place as well as a legendary battlefield where the British and French empires clashed in the Battle of Quebec in1759.<\/p>\n
