travelers trying to cut costs, survey says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>More business travelers and corporate <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.orbitz.com\" target=\"_blank\">travel<\/a><\/strong> planners are passing up higher-end <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.orbitz.com\/App\/ViewHotelSearch\" target=\"_blank\">hotels<\/a><\/strong> as they try to save on <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.orbitz.com\">travel<\/a><\/strong> costs, according to a new survey.<\/p>\n<p>Sixty-eight percent of those surveyed by <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/orbitzforbusiness.net\" target=\"_blank\">Orbitz for Business<\/a><\/strong> and Business Traveler magazine said they were staying at less expensive <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.orbitz.com\/App\/ViewHotelSearch\" target=\"_blank\">hotels<\/a><\/strong> with lower star ratings.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly four-fifths, meanwhile, said they were feeling some pressure to cut travel-related expenses.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some other results from the May survey of 610 Business Traveler subscribers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>44 percent say they or their company plan to attend fewer trade shows this year or will send fewer employees.<\/li>\n<li>25 percent said they&#8217;re taking day trips whenever possible rather than spending a night at a <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.orbitz.com\/App\/ViewHotelSearch\" target=\"_blank\">hotel<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>47 percent reported changes to their companies&#8217; <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.orbitz.com\/App\/DisplayCarSearch\" target=\"_blank\">rental car<\/a><\/strong> policies, including requirements that they rent smaller, less expensive cars.<\/li>\n<li>42 percent are exploring alternatives to <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.orbitz.com\"
