For the past few years, couples have visited France’s Pont des Arts bridge to write their names on a padlock, affix it to the bridge and throw away the key\u2014thus sealing their bond\u00a0for eternity. But earlier this year, the city of Paris announced it would bid adieu<\/em> to\u00a0the custom and remove the\u00a0locks because\u00a0the weight of all that affection was literally more than\u00a0the\u00a0so-called Love Lock Bridge could bear.<\/p>\n

With International Kissing Day approaching July 6, Orbitz identified other smooch-worthy spotsin Paris and beyond. Pucker up, these are 5 of the world’s most romantic places.<\/p>\n

Paris, France<\/a>:\u00a0<\/strong>Some cliches exist for a reason.\u00a0The Love Lock Bridge\u00a0may no longer be an option, but there’s a perfectly good Eiffel Tower that’s sure to leave you feeling amorous. Visit at sunset, and spring for some bubbly inside the landmark’s Champagne Bar.<\/p>\n

Guanajuato, Mexico<\/strong><\/a>: Legend has it that ill-fated young lovers Ana and Carlos would meet in this passageway to carry out their clandestine romance. According to superstition, couples who visit the spot should kiss on the third step, which is painted red, to avoid bad luck.\u00a0While you’re in the area, hold hands as you check out Guanajuato’s museums, monuments and public gardens.<\/p>\n

Hershey, Pennsylvania<\/strong><\/a>: The hometown of Hershey’s Kisses is filled with ways to create sweet memories together:\u00a0Ride the roller coasters at Hersheypark, tour Hershey’s Chocolate World and\u00a0grab a bite to eat at the casual Chocolate Avenue Grill. As day turns to night, stroll hand-in-hand along Chocolate Avenue, where you can share a sugary kiss.<\/p>\n

New York, New York<\/a>: <\/strong>There’s no shortage of flashy places to smooch in the Big Apple, but we like Ellis Island for its less-obvious appeal. During the 19th and early 20th centuries, newly arrived immigrants would reunite with relatives\u00a0at a particular pillar in the Great Hall. Today, the so-called kissing post<\/a> is marked by a plaque; the spot’s storied history makes for an emotional smooch.<\/p>\n

Casablanca, Morocco<\/strong><\/a>: The Rick’s Cafe made famous by\u00a0Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman in the classic movie Casablanca<\/em> was purely Hollywood fiction. But in 2004, American expat Kathy Kriger opened a real-live restaurant of the same name, complete with a player piano and decor inspired by the film. It’s the perfect place to order a meal and kiss as if it were the last time.<\/p>\n
