Sounds great, right? But a sniff test has over-worked America asking: Is this the ultimate take-home test? You know, the test that\u2019s so impossibly hard your teacher lets you take it home with you.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.orbitz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/freevacation-copy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-30393\" src=\"https:\/\/www.orbitz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/freevacation-copy.jpg\" alt=\"freevacation copy\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.orbitz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/freevacation-copy.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.orbitz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/freevacation-copy-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s too soon to tell. The good of it is that some employers genuinely mean it as a way to let you recharge before starting a new job and see it as a way of keeping you at the company for the long haul.<\/p>\n<p>The flip side is employers like Jason Freedman, CEO of San Francisco\u2019s 42Floors, expect workers to, \u201cYeah, have a great time! And when you get back here, work your ass off.\u201d (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.slate.com\/articles\/business\/building_a_better_workplace\/2014\/09\/precation_perks_companies_offer_employees_vacation_before_they_start.html\">Slate<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Our advice: Ask questions. Make sure the perk is meant to keep you motivated and focused instead of a last hurrah before signing your life away. Either way, we\u2019re all about vacations\u2014pre, post, now, later\u2014so consider that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.orbitz.com\/psi?force=hotels\/=orbitzBlog&amp;GCID=78142\">pre-cation on us<\/a>.
