Earlier this year, New York vacations got a little cooler. Eventi<\/a>, a Kimpton hotel, opened on the outskirts of Chelsea, in a bustling little neighborhood near the Flower District and the Theater District. I spent two nights in an executive suite on the 22nd floor, falling in love with one of Manhattan\u2019s most fabulous boutique hotels. Here are five reasons to check out what this hip New York hotel<\/a> has to offer:<\/p>\n

All the fabulous art<\/strong>
\nMuch of the inside of Eventi feels like a museum thanks to original art pieces by American artist Barbara Nessim. Her work shows up everywhere from the huge mural spanning the 3rd and 4th floor walls to the alluring line drawings in the bathrooms and bedrooms of the hotel. In addition to Nessim\u2019s paintings and illustrations, the hotel features unique clocks, statues and lighting. Look carefully, even the outlet covers on the workstations have been integrated thoughtfully into the artistic appeal of the hotel\u2019s interior.<\/p>\n

Complimentary wine hour on the rooftop terrace<\/strong>
\nFrom five to six, Eventi kicks back for a complimentary wine happy hour that spreads from the expansive multimedia theater to the gorgeous rooftop terrace — an enchanting space that was recently used by theater star Bebe Neuwirth for a private event. The hotel staff mingles with guests over seasonal wines, including a chilled sangria on the warm days during our stay. Kids are welcome to play with a Nintendo Wii on the big screen while adults lounge on the terrace five stories above the bustle of sixth avenue.<\/p>\n

Kid and pet friendly\u2014really! <\/strong>
\nChildren are welcomed to Eventi with a special welcome packet include a kid-friendly survey and kid-sized robes. Parents can check in with the knowledgeable front desk staff to find local kid-friendly events and attractions. When Eventi\u2019s staff says they\u2019re pet friendly, they mean business. Whether guests are traveling with a large dog or a handful of cats, the staff is ready to assist with everything from complimentary walks to a bottle of water, snacks and a bowl. Those with pet allergies should be pleased to know that several of the hotel floors have been designated as no-pet areas.<\/p>\n

Modern, chic s<\/strong>tyle<\/strong>
\nEvery room in this New York hotel has been tastefully decorated by Eventi\u2019s personal designer, Colum McCartan. McCartan consulted on everything from the design of the Do No Disturb function on the doors to the custom made mini bars that mold seamlessly with the modern, surprising guestroom interiors. The bedroom we stayed in wasn\u2019t just pretty — it had one of the most comfortable beds I\u2019ve ever slept on. I opened the curtains, sprawled on the bed and enjoyed the view from the floor to ceiling windows. The visual appeal of the hotel extends to the exterior — a 54-story glass tower that can easily be spotted from blocks away.<\/p>\n

Beginner-friendly location<\/strong>
\nEventi is the perfect hotel for first time New York vacations<\/a>. Want to head to Central Park<\/strong>? It\u2019s a straight shot\u00a0 down6th Avenue. Eventi is located in an up and coming neighborhood, close to one of New York City\u2019s most exclusive clubs at the Ace Hotel. With Herald Square and Penn Station just a quick walk away, it\u2019s easy to catch a subway or train or taxicab just about anywhere you need to go. We took public transportation from JFK to Eventi in less than an hour for less than $15 — with luggage.<\/p>\n
