Not as I read in previous review, there is no smoke in our room. I booked a family room and non smoking of course. The room is big, divided in 2 room inside and have big bed each. Everything look clean and new. Just the weird thing, my husband can not find a desk for him to do some work, instead they put large reclining sofa in room, that my kids like a lot. The location is superb, just across the border and Zhuhai railway station. They also provide breakfast,, and give me a vegetarian food as I request.

This hotel is located across the road from the boarder crossing with Macau, so in a convenient location. I was due to arrive at the hotel at 6pm, but at 4pm got a phone call from booking.com to say the hotel were going to release my room as I hadn't checked in yet. After a very expensive phone call (roaming charges) I manage to convince them I was coming and not to give away my room. On arrival I was checked into my room which took a while as no one spoke English. My room was tiny, there is no where to put your suitcase without blocking your way around the room. The room stank of cigarettes (even though it was a no smoking room) and had an ashtray. The bed was a small double, so you wouldn't want to stay here is there were two of you. The room I booked was meant to be a business room with wifi but I could not get a signal. I called the front desk to complain but again no English, eventually someone came up to my room and I showed them on my laptop, she said she was going to fix it and would come back but never did. I called down again but they said they didn't understand. There is no room service at this hotel and the restaurant downstairs is a buffet and not a great one. The staff seemed almost surprised when I asked to eat dinner there. After a long journey I didn't fancy wandering around on my own late in the dark. Dinner was a disappointment so I didn't bother with breakfast. I was so unimpressed by the hotel, service and smelly room that I checked out early, but was still charged for the full stay. I would not stay at this hotel again. My colleague stayed at the hotel Guotai around the corner which was much nicer.

Awesome Experience Lhotel elan is my preferred hotel in Hong Kong and I would highly recommend to friends to stay with due to the great service of staffs. The hotel locates in the middle of a business area where u could find a lot of hidden treasures such as nice restaurants around the corner but be noted that most of them close before 10. There is a McDonald 5 mins walk away from hotel or you may try the hotel restaurant on 2/F.

My first stay was a little "rocky" but this due to the fact that it had just opened so many snags needed attending. This is my second stay (2-yrs later) and all is as good as you can expect from a 4/5 star hotel. My trips are for business so it is a 3 night stay. Location is really convenient -- underground market entrance right outside. You can walk through the market and right into the Macau border post, which can really jam-packed on certain days at certain times. L Hotel has all the amenities expected -- strong free wi-fi, LED TV (if you understand the lingo), comfortable bed, good sized working desk, small mini-bar, great shower, in closet safety box, lots of hangers. Breakfast is so-so but acceptable -- I am not here for the food. Small comfortable lounge available to relax in. Fast elevators and very helpful staff in spite of the extreme language challenges. Good value for money.

I stayed at L Hotel with my family during 8-10 October 2014, travelling in Macau most of the time. There are pros and cons of the hotel. Pros : - Location is convenient. Gongbei customs is just 6-7 mins walk from hotel. If going through underground mall from the border, take exit 1 and 2 which will lead you to G/F of L Hotel. Signage in the mall shows clearly the direction. - In terms of room rates, I think it is value for money when I paid RMB462 per night for Executive seaview room. Despite it is not all 180 degree seaview, I can see clearly the river across Zhuhai and Macau. It was pleasant experience to see the sun up in the sky early in the morning. Tips is to book with ctrip early but keep tracking room rates in the website. I booked 2 rooms at least 1 month before check-in with each RMB5xx without breakfast. Almost 1 week before check in, I found better offer at RMB462 with buffet breakfast and upgrade to Executive seaview room. I cancelled previous booking and re-booked immediately to secure better offer. The second booking required C-money, that means to provide credit card information as guarantee. That is fine with me. - In the room, you got everything you need eg basic toiletries, hair dryer, kettle, a small fridge, TV (Sony LCD), scale, etc. The hotel is very thoughtful to include a sanitized floor mat for shower. My mother is 70+ and really needs to avoid any accident during shower. The Japanese toilet makes me feel warm when I use it. Interesting experience. Water pressure is good enough for me to enjoy shower. There is rainshower as alternative. Another good thing is the area for shower where I did not see any leakage of water after shower. The waterproof design of the shower door should have the credit. - Staff from front desk, doorman, chef at restaurant to the lady who is responsible to clean up room, all wore smile and greeted me and family. I think it is their normal practice to greet room guests. - Buffet breakfast is quite good in terms of the room rates that I paid for. The restaurant is on the same floor of front desk. Spread is wide enough for breakfast, eg congee, noodles (made to order), bread, salad with 3 dressings, fried rice, corn, dim sum, etc. Tea, milk, hot water and fruit juice are also free flow. Fruit juice is not freshly squeezed type, though. Fruits like water melon and honey dew melon are there. Quality-wise, I think it is higher than expected in general. Dumplings and noodle stand are highly recommended. If the restaurant can serve better barbequed pork buns (char siu bau), I will be happier. The small and round bread are not soft enough for me. Perhaps, these two things are the only think that I don’t prefer. For the rest, it is quite good. Cons : - I called operator to arrange wake up call for 7:30 am the following day. But it turned out that nobody called me. I was eventually awoken by my mother instead. Fortunately, there was nothing important to do early in the morning. If I have to catch a flight, it could be a problem. - 2 bottles of Watsons distilled water are placed very near to kettle, very eye catching. They are not complimentary and ask for RMB1x each. The complimentary ones are down below, near the fridge. I think it is quite tricky for room guests to overlook it. I reminded my family to use those complimentary bottles first. - Hope the hotel will no longer use soap. I did not want to unpack the soap and use it. If possible, hotel can use small bottle of handwash instead. If I go to Zhuhai for trip, may stay at L Hotel again provided I can book with attractive room rates as this time. I was happy to find Shanghai Story in the underground mall near McDonald’s. They have no outlet in Hong Kong or Macau. I took the chance of big sale and bought 2 scarves, each RMB99. Good price in terms of their high quality.

Firstly I don't know who to blame, AGODA or L Hotel... I booked the room as a spur of the moment thing and when I arrived (having prepaid online with Agoda) they knew nothing about my booking... to be fair to L Hotel, they tried their best not to keep me waiting, kept running back to me every few minutes keeping me informed of the situation. They asked me to call Agoda... I refused, saying that I have the printed Hotel Coupon which states the room is guaranteed, up to you L Hotel. They came though in the end, about 20 minutes wait... well done L Hotel, kept me waiting but kept me informed and up to date on the situation. Could of been a lot worse. So, the hotel... located right through the Gongbei customs on your left opposite the railway station, right next door to Charming. I have attached picture to this review. Once check in was through, I must say, nothing wrong with the hotel, its fine, new, clean, friendly, if any real issue - the walls appear to be very thin indeed. Room was adequate size, comfortable, all amenities provided and a good quality Sony TV too. At half the price of Charming, and only really the pool to differentiate the two... next time I'd probably go for L Hotel. (Got a free breakfast but didn't try it... so can't comment on it). Right above the famous Port Plaza shopping mall... enjoy. Thanks for doing your best "L Hotel" ...

Hotel is located in a place next to Macau and Zhuhai Station, opposite to the night market. Just 5 mins walk to these destinations, cool! The only disadvantage is not enough facility, no swimming pool and gym room. Good security: Customer take their room card and only access to the floor they are staying. But the reception table in the lobby is too small and it's easy to hear the conversation with another check-in customer.

I had a very bade experienced with this hotel, I purposely paid for a higher price for Business Class assuming that I will get more spacious than superior, but i'm wrong, the counter staff told us they have classified the Business Class in term of 20th Floor onwards. My hubby & myself squeezed in the tiny cubical with single bed as on the 1st May 2014 was fully booked, & we top up money in order to changed to a bigger room over the next day. They told me I got to book a deluxe seaview for double occupancy with more spacious, I can't find any reason for them to classified the business room for single occupancy just to get a higher level. It's really a great disappointment.

This is my first time in China. This hotel is very nice very comfortable to stay.. Rooms super clean.. Restaurant at fifth floors I love the food. Very close to border and shopping center train station am bus station also.. I have no complaints people here very friendly I like this service treat me like a VIP.. I will give 5 stars to this hotel

If you want a new hotel near the Gongbei border crossing, but want to spend less than is required for Zhuhai Charming (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g297418-d1452270-Reviews-Zhuhai_Charming_Holiday_Hotel-Zhuhai_Guangdong.html) consider the newly renovated L Hotel. When looking it up for reservation purposes, make sure the address is on Changsheng Road 昌盛路, because an older hotel of the same name is on Lianhua Road 莲花路 (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g297418-d1140268-Reviews-L_Hotels_Zhuhai_Lianhua-Zhuhai_Guangdong.html) and you don't want to confuse the two. This place is clean and modern, thoughtfully constructed, with attractive design touches inside the rooms and in public areas. The rooms are not large, but are functional. Lobby is on the 5th floor. Can enter from an interior street or from an exterior street facing the train station. Signs are clear, but not huge. It would be possible to miss the entrance if you weren't looking carefully. Good breakfast and attentive staff in all departments. I heard English at the front desk and saw quite a few foreign tourists. Across the street from the train station and 3 minutes walking to two of the major long distance bus terminals. Across the street from the Gongbei crossiing to Macau 拱北关口。 Out the back door are a couple of those fantastic barber shops and massage parlors for which Zhuhai is justly famous. Several 大排档 (street restaurants) featuring live seafood in tanks. Great value and friendly atmosphere. They set up folding tables in the maze of pedestrian streets as the sun goes down. An excellent mid-range choice from every standpoint. I will return.
