I visited Fletcher Zuiderduin Beachhotel at the end of August. With school and work almost back back in full swing, this time of year is all about making the most of your holidays. Here at the hotel in Zuiderduin, I spent quality time with my three children for catching my breath, whether it was a green walk over the plant-grown sand dunes, a scenic escape to the beach on the other side of the dunes, or a quick dive in the hotel pool. This secluded getaway in the sand dunes of Westkapelle has now made it to my dream-hotel list. And I can only imagine that fall, when you can hike among the leaves during the day and curl up by the lobby fire at night, is when Fletcher Zuiderduin Beachhotel is at its best. The place has the feel of a bohemian seaside retreat, even as it embraces more luxury-driven creature comforts (with an insane on-site restaurant). Between the gourmet meals included in your package and the gorgeous grounds, most people choose to stay on-site, but if you want to venture further, the sweet towns around Westkapelle are within biking distance, along nostalgic country roads.
First of all to acknowledge is the fact I was here for a conference. So I can only give my rating from that perspective. It was one of those 'hot days in June 2017' Where I feel a need for Airconditioning and this hotel has banned any form of Air-conditioning. GREAT. It is a completely waste of money with a hotel behind the dunes where there is always wind. Give nature a chance. The other side of the coin is that windows are open and NEED to be open. So a conference room above the terrace with a gathering of people attending a wedding is quite disturbing. A bedroom above the main entrance, late arrivals and early delivery from 5:30 on, with open windows ... that is the other side of having airco / not. Hotels are for me 'less serving' for conference since their main job/ core job is serving their hotel guests. Special needs in conference rooms, special requests for lunches 'vanish' (and HAVE vanished) in the traffic of a hotel guests. Breakfast is buffet style and average, no big/ small deal. Staff is friendly here and there. A grumpy face, the 'we are busy with ourselves/ counting bottles behind the bar' behaviour has been noticed as well .. I do want to come back with my family and I surrender to what is. In doing my work and being fully dependent of the staff for doing my work I would say NO.
We arrived at 7:30 after driving a long way. The receptionist was nice and efficient. The restaurant could not accommodate us as we did not book in advance even though I had my elderly parents with us and there were plenty tables free. They were not too friendly about it either. When asked where we could go they simply told us to try in town. The rooms are big and comfortable and the bed are excellent. The wifi is very slow.
Nice and classy hotel with big rooms. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was perfect and had enough choice. With the beach literally on a stone throw from the hotel, you can smell the sea breeze from your room. The restaurant offers a nice menu with sea food dishes.
I visited this hotel in a woeking context. We stayed for two nights. The rooms were very comfortable with a good bed and a large and very cleam bathroom. The meeting room was light and spacious. The breakfast was nice with a good variety.
no tea/coffee facilities in the room, no extra pillow or blanket the shower was broken and only reached our chests , the pressure of the hot water so bad that we didn't even bother having a shower in the end one of the mattresses was so badly worn, that if you moved past the middle of the bed you would slide off and fall out the unprofessional bar staff were extremely rude and did not even want to serve us a coffee in the afternoon (evening service was not much better - the waitress did not even speak English or Dutch) the only saving grace was the receptionist who did apologise and even gave us our evening drinks (2 glasses of wine) for free - and actually, also the 4 glasses of beer that we did NOT even drink, but had appeared on our bill
A nice hotel very close to the beach and beautiful dunes. Rooms are spacious and modern. Could have doen with airco in the summer though. During our stay a generator was on constantly during the night that made lots of noise. Breakfast and food are good.
It is our first day here and the visit so far has been so pleasant I don't see the point of waiting to review it later. This is a good place. Our room is a duplex with one view of the front of the hotel and the second view overlooking the heated pool, open field and the dunes in the background. Our room accommodates 4 and the outdoor patio is a nice touch of home for a hotel. There is a short stroll behind the dunes to the ocean and a peaceful breeze here to constantly remind us that it is waiting for us. Our room is modern, modestly appointed and wonderfully clean. Every morning the hotel offers a buffet style breakfast that is just short of world class. It succeeds in resetting you for the day ahead. Disappointment is simply not in this hotel's vocabulary. Most every other accommodation you can think of is here. Come here to explore Zeeland and Brugge.
Neighbourhood is fantastic. Close to the beach and the sea. Breakfast is good, but staff is too noisy moving furniture for later brunch: not the quietness I had in mind for breakfast. Also, the rooms are standard, but felt a little outdated. For that price, you can find something 'cosier' and more original in the surroundings.
In need of a short/weekend break in a quiet, open, green space close to the sea? Spacious, comfortable rooms (particularly the family duplexes + terrace), friendly staff, good food, and lovely driving tours to be taken in the area? Visit Zeeland and stay at this hotel. One negative point is that there's no elevator. True it's only one floor up, but when carrying suitcases or two toddlers, a lift can be very useful.
