Beautiful old world hotel. Perfectly located near, but not in the old town. While the staff was not overly friendly, they were courteous and professional. Rooms were small but clean, worth asking for extra towels though.
The Palace Hotel in Zagreb offers a high level of comfort in a very central location. Access to the the highlights of the city and surrounds are easy from here with excellent tram, bus and taxi services. The hotel rooms are very well appointed with good size and finish with attentive, very professional staff with attention to detail and have good language fluency. Rooms are very well priced and recommended as value for money.
When we travel to Zagreb, Croatia, we stay at the Palace. The Hotel is well run by mannerly staff, and its location is ideal. The Tram stops in front! Walking outise past the lively square of Zrinjski, with popcorn stands and Rakija (fiery brandy) bars, up to "Gornji Grad", you can board the tram to the Zoo, or continue to the open air market. You will want to linger where everyone else seems to meet, at the Trg (Square) of Ban Jelacic, a defender of Croatia in times past, and as statue in the era of the communist regime. We had many rooms at the Palace over the years, most recently we had the Suite Diplomatic, boasting a piano and a rounded-off balcony abloom with blood-red geraniums. At breakfast there is champagne as well as oatmeal! Though you'll want to get better coffee at a cafe on Ilica, the Palace edition will satisfy your morning experimentation. Below the balcony at street level is the bar ad restaurant at the Palace; you will never be asked to leave, so linger, linger a lot in Zagreb...
really nice "old classic" hotel, very well located meaning everything in the city centre can be explored in a walking distance from the hotel, nice friendly staff and clean room; only the breakfast could be nicer; book it - you can't do anything wrong
My three-night stay at the Palace Hotel could not have been nicer! Courteous and helpful staff, clean and comfortable rooms, as well as a wide-option breakfast. The hotel has an excellent Viennese style restaurant and cafe attached and is located within 5 minutes of both the railway station and main town square. I couldn't recommend this hotel more!
I was traveling as a solo in my arranged trip and this was the first "small solo" room I received and I loved it because it had everything I needed: wifi, flat-screen tv, excellent picture, refrigerator, a twin bed, a window that opens for fresh air, good bathroom, a safe and plenty of storage. It was across the street from a large park and on the railway line so you can find yourself back to the hotel if you find the blue railcar. Breakfast was excellent with fresh breads and plenty of options, I went there on Easter week and on Sunday they had dyed Easter eggs and delicious Easter ham. It is only blocks away from the city center and the train station. No pool but one can walk everywhere for exercise. Also had nice retro interior but warn you, the elevators are tiny. Easy access to stairs if you don't have a suitcase with you. Nice attached small cafe for drinks or afternoon coffee. Not too smoky here.
We had 3 nights at Palace. Everything was in perfekt orden. A little noice from the tramp outsider was not really disturbing. The staff was very kind and helpful . Easy to walk to the old city and trams to elsewhere.
We arrived by train after 11 am and checked to see if room might be ready. The lady at the desk did not check and told us the earliest we could check in was 2 pm. If she had checked, we might have felt better. This may be an older hotel, but something was missing besides their check-in policy...not a good ambience. The room was not large, but ok and warm. There was no control over heat/AC besides opening the window, which is ok when it is quiet. The location was good, but would not stay here again.
It's a nice hotel located in the center of the city within walking distance of the Old town, Main Square and Main Station of Zagreb. Palace hotel is clean and has a unique old style with a touch of luxury. Our room was at the back of the hotel with the windows looking at the courtyard, so it was pretty quiet. But sleep was not the best due to the poor quality of the mattress which was making all the noises possible. Bathroom was bright and wide. Even though it's not allowed to smoke in the rooms, I sometimes could smell someone smoking through the ventilation system. Besides location, the advantage of this hotel is also the rich variety of breakfast buffet. Coffee is absolutely undrinkable, though. Wifi is free and fast for surfing the web, but not streaming a movie in HD. Some of the staff members were friendly, some grumpy. The cleaning personnel was nice. Correspondence before arriving with the person responsible for the booking was non-existent, as she didn't manage to get back to us and answer to few questions we were interested in. Eventually, we had to call. Overall, it was a nice experience staying there.
Stayed there for two nights Location is very good. Close to the center of the city. Nice view in front. Breakfast was way better than I expected. Staff was helpful and qualified. Room was not so big, bathroom was clean but kinda smelly. I definitely recommend this place for short visits.
