Esplanade is an excellent hotel. It deserves the five star rating. The staff is wonderful and the facility is beautiful.

The staff was especially kind and attentive. Great restaurant inside.

Comfortable beds, good selection of tv channels, great staff and decent amenities(sauna)

Historical hotel with large guest rooms. North facing rooms have tram noise might impact light sleepers.

Service was spectacular. While backpacking through, I splurged on a night here. Very happy I did. 2 min walk from the train station. Very clean and extravagant hotel, but inexpensive on the USD. Room was a little smaller than US rooms but very nice and clean. Bed was a little stiff. Comforter was ok and pillows great. Ordered breakfast room service and was really good, even at a slight premium for Croatia. Wonderful experience and cannot wait to visit again.

It is a great hotel. This was my second time dtaying there and it won't be my last.

Take a walk down the grand stairs to experience classical design. Easy walk along linear park to main attractions. Many good restaurants close by.

Charming Hotel of vintage character. Excellent Restaurant and Bar. Good service and helpful staff. Hard beds. Bathrooms have lovely showers and separate bathtub. Spacious rooms. A hotel this good should not require the card by the door in order to operate the air conditioning. Took several hours to cool the room down.

When my husband and I checked in we were told that because we had booked the Hotel online through Orbitz, we had been assigned to a wheelchair-accessible room. If we weren't satisfied with that room, the only other room available had twin beds and a bathtub only, no shower. Reluctantly we accepted the wheelchair-accessible room. It turned out that the shower stall had no door. We visited in August so the room air conditioner was on and the doorless shower was drafty. In addition, after we both showered, the room was quite wet. The magnifying mirror in the bathroom was unusable because it was mounted on the wall at a height suitable for someone seated. There was no seat in the bathroom, and no amount of body contorsion allowed me to see my face. The hair dryer ceased to operate as soon as it became hot, which took less than a minute. It had to cool off completely before it could be used again. We expected more from a hotel that bills itself as five star. I don't think our mistake was booking through Orbitz; no other hotel we have ever booked online has used this as an excuse for giving us an unsuitable room. We booked this room six months in advance of our stay.

It was very gorgeous experience for us to stay 3 nights. It remind us this hotel was made for old orient express travelers.

This is the hotel to stay at in Zagreb if you appreciate classic elegance. This old hotel has been well-maintained and still promises luxury at a surprisingly reasonable price. The staff were friendly and efficient and offered useful advice for activities. The two restaurants are among the best in Zagreb, which is a nice bonus, would take advantage if you are staying here. Beds were comfortable, internet fast, rooms large and clean, all amenities in good working order. I would stay here again the next time I visit Zagreb.

Spent a comfortable night in deluxe hotel. Convenient location 2 blocks from town hall and low cost 2 hour walking tour of city

My husband and I spent one night in Zagreb at the end of a busy week of travel. The Esplanade was a wonderful hotel and a lovely experience. Our room was so big for a European hotel with a real king-sized bed and plenty of room. The service was fantastic. Every member of staff was friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make sure we had a good experience. We enjoyed using the saunas at the health club. The hotel has a lot of history and they've done a great job of mixing the history with a modern and comfortable travel experience.

Staff were very helpful . Room was ordinary .breakfast was good .

Walk to everywhere. Staff is wonderful. Brunch on the courtyard was delishous and a great way to start the day. Worth the money.

I commit a mistake in the reservation and the hotel wasnt very nice, not helpfull

Location was prime. Concierge was very helpful and knowledgeable. But room was old in design, didn't have water kettle to have afternoon tea, old tube TV with 1-2 English channels, and weak water pressured shower.

The hotel exceeded all our expectation. It was like a well, ing haven after a long and arduous journey.

This is a beautiful old hotel originally built for travelers on the Orient Express. There was a total remodel in the last few years, so everything is very comfortable, but it has kept its old world charm and service. This is the first hotel I have ever visited where registration invites you to sit when you check in and out. The bathrooms have a beautiful granite and marble shower stall in addition to a free standing tub. The rooms are very large with period furniture, and the bed was very comfortable. The soap and shampoo were by L'Occitane, which is always a pleasure. Every staff member went out of their way to help with anything we needed. It was a very pleasant 5 star stay.

The hotel is perfect for train travel since it is almost across from the train station. It is a beautiful hotel (only 5 star hotel in Zagreb) with old atmosphere but very new and up to date amenities and bathrooms. Very high class! It is a 10 minute walk to the city center and all tourist locations or a 2 stop tram. You can obtain a tram in front of the train station (2 minute walk) for less than a dollar to go to the city center. Everyone speaks English at the hotel and are very helpful. Many very very important people stay and have stayed here, it also use to be the hotel that the passenger.
