Did not expect to be sharing a toilet with 4 other rooms! Did not expect there would be no tv except for one I had to carry to my room with some old DVD's ( think True Grit ) to my room. No room or place to set it except the bed. I didnt even check in, just left. If you want that, it is quaint, I just wanted a clean room with a toilet and tv news.
I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. The manager checked us in and he was friendly, helpful, and he offered us complimentary coffee and cider. We stayed in the main lodge and opted for the shared bathroom; both the room and bathroom were extremely clean and well-kept. The location is beautiful; right outside the hotel there is a lake and walking trails. WiFi and breakfast are included in the room price. The breakfast selection was one of the best I've had, plenty to choose from and the lobby is very cozy. Dog friendly and reasonably priced for the area.
Luckily picked the better half of what turned into a stormy weekend. Had booked a Lodge room and requested a smaller cabin upon arrival. After seeing how this place was set up, staying in one of these seemed to fit the scene perfectly! The staff was very accommodating in achieving this for me. Great, clean and snug little place. Met plenty of really nice people there that come back every year. If you are going to stay in Mammoth Lakes I highly suggest this place! I will be visiting it frequently myself. Being there mainly for photography, attached are some of the captures I was able to get of this place and some of it's obvious local hot spots! I'll be back to capture more soon. If you would like to see some of the other shots, I post @vmp_captures and @vmp_bnw on Instagram. Thank you! Brett Jozsa
Tamarack Lodge on Twin Lakes is an excellent location on the lakes and with great mountain views and short walk to the water fall. All the staff at lodge, especially Kelly, Bryan and the manager Mike are most professional, friendly and willing to assist in any way to make your stay pleasant. The staff at their restaurant ,The Lakefront Restaurant, are also most professional, courteous and helpful,as the food is GREAT. We can highly recommend.
The Tamarack area is beautiful and serene. As a long time season pass holder, I have stayed in the cabins before with my dog. But this time not only did I get the tourism and occupancy tax fees, And daily resort fees, my dog got the same fees in addition to the pet fee of 30.00 a day. On top of that, there is the 200.00 pet deposit and waiver that specify what damage and or pet behaviors that justify in losing the deposit, such as excessive shedding. I would think with all the money in fees, the staff would be paid to pick up trash around the property. That was not the case. On my 5th day, I picked up others' trash, cig butts and dog poop. I watched as staff walked by litter not to be bothered.
The lodge is a charming rustic mountain lodge in the Eastern Sierra. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay. Breakfast was good and the Lodge was clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful with recommending what to see and how to get there!
Awesome resort in the middle of the real nature. Lakes and Peaks shows you the most beautiful face of life. Cute chalet with fireplace and comfort bed. Good sweet breakfast, staff really friendly and helpful. Great restaurant available inside, with taste and fresh dishes (soup, meat and salads). Only one thing: wifi is very low, but maybe this is not a big deal in a place like this. Absolutely lovely and recommended!!!
The Tamarack Lodge was the least expensive of the hotels for the weekend we went to Mammoth. We booked a lodge room as there was so much snow I was worried about hauling all of our gear across huge snow piles to get to a cabin. If you have trouble with stairs or uneven surfaces this is NOT the place for you, but the staff are warm and friendly and helpful. We arrived early and they allowed us to pre-check in until our room was ready. They took my cell number and called when it was ready. Please note the shuttle was NOT running while we were there so needed to use our car to get around but at least there was decent parking when we got home from a day's skiing and then dinner out later on. We never did dine in the restaurant as it was sold out that weekend but we heard excellent things about it so if you stay, be sure to reserve your dinner table early! Great, lakeside location with beautiful views. Walls are very thin in the lodge but there are quiet hours from 10pm to 8am and everyone abided by them so it wasn't a problem. Small but clean and efficient bathroom. Small, rustic room with lots of older plugs with only two blade outlets but there were options with the three prong and USB charging by the bed so lots of place to charge gadgets if you need to. If you are skiing at mammoth and the shuttle not running, I recommend you drive to boulder lodge EARLY and grab parking and ski wherever you need to get to.
We had a 4 day weekend @ Tamarack and it was great. We stayed in the Lodge vs. the cabins for convenience and ambiance. Every morning was a continental breakfast in the Lodge common room. It was always warm and had the fireplace going. On Friday and Saturday's there was live entertainment after 7:00 so unless you were downhill skiing or went out to eat, you did not have to leave. We went snowshoeing one day and would have done the same the next day but a true blizzard came in and closed the cross country trails. The staff on hand took the weather in stride and helped as many people as they could with digging out of their cabins and in some cases, with chains (even through this was not really their responsibility). In all, the staff was great and accommodating and we would go back again. Based on near record amounts of snow at Mammoth this year, I would opt for the Lodge again since many of the cabin goers had snow covering all their windows except their front door window. One last note, the snowshoe/CC ski rental center is ~ 100 yards away across the parking lot. They have the equipment you need to make things enjoyable in the trails.
Our family had a great time in mammoth and the cabin we stayed in at tamarack was fantastic. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This is definitely a trip we would love to repeat. We highly recommend the tamarack lodge for anyone who is planning to visit twin lakes.
