We like the old world character of the Sanora Inn. It's right downtown & easy to walk to restaurants & the coffee shop close by.

The Sonora Inn is a quaint old hotel with lots of character. The room we were assigned was close to the smallest of them all but the bed was very comfortable. Bathroom extremely small but probably just right in it's hay day.

Close to everything enjoyed view of downtown beautiful drive to Yosmite

Friendly staff, clean comfortable room. I'd stay there again.

Stayed on a Friday night, hotel is cute and the best part is the location! Right in the heart of downtown!! The biggest con is the noise levels! On this particular Friday night, loud loud loud... You can hear everything and everyone in the hallway and everyone driving down the st! Fine for the price, clean and not creepy but very loud!

That is certainly the case at the "Historic Sonora Inn". While it certainly is not dilapidated and manages not to smell of mold or mildew there is plenty in this antiquated building that echoes "The Grand Budapest Hotel" or "Touch of Evil". But, hey, it's Sonora; and if you're looking for a little character and don't want another broken down motel this is the place. Family has easy walking access to the heart of the town. There is a small pool that actually has a 7ft section and is open til 10PM. And there is the added bonus that most of the guests are from Europe. Make some chit-chat at the (weak) complimentary breakfast.

Granted this is a 100 or so year old building but what a fiasco. The walls are paper thin so even a normal conversation can be overheard in the next room. The noise from the street precludes opening any windows which means you have to rely on the 1980's air conditioner for ventilation. Turing it on sounds like a Cessna taking off. The bathrooms are original and so small that the door had to be cut so it would not contact the toilet to close. Turn this place into a museum or something. It is a very historic building however after two sleepless nights I would never recommend it, especially given the prices.

I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the Sonora Inn is and our room was so cute! It is a very sweet, quaint place and has very reasonable room rates. I would definitely stay there again.

Greeted warmly by an excellent front desk staff who were both professional and friendly. Offered a dinner discount coupon at check in good at six local restaurants all within walking distance. Excellent location in the heart of downtown Sonora, lots of shops and places to eat within a short walk. Older property from the 1890s that has recently been remolded and re-decorated. Room was super clean and comfortable, no view but the mini-suite layout made up for that. Breakfast offered is standard american continental, nothing spectacular. Only complaint was it took forever to get hot water in the bathroom sink or shower - minor delay for a wonderful and relaxing time.

I arrived on a Friday evening and ate dinner at Chris's Italian resturant downstairs. I met a friend of mine thereand the food was great! My room was nice an clean, the bed was super comfortable, and had nice ffurnishings. The bathroom was old charm. It was quiet all night so I had no trouble sleeping. The complimentry breakfast had enough selections to satisfy me. All was good including the coffee. I plan to stay there again soon as the location was perfect for walking to all the shps along the main street in front of this hotel.

The loaction is great. The internet never did work although I complained several times about it. The heater only worked intermittantly.

The heating unit was so so loud, couldn't stand to listen to it. The TV was nothing but static, and it turned off about 8pm and we couldn't get it to turn back on. The carpeting was pulling away from the wall near the bathroom, and was wrinkled across the floor. Location was great. It's an old hotel and needs lots of T.L.C. We won't stay there again.

The room that was reserved for us was at best an old, dirty collage dorm room that was barely big enough for one person. The staff was awesome though. They were very apologetic and upgraded us to a better room... especially after seeing that my wife and I had our 7 month old with us. The room we were upgraded to was more than decent. Location was awesome. Walking distance to the fairgrounds and right in the center of downtown. I'll go back. (fyi, the suite was huge, but looked like something out of Kubrick's Overlook Hotel... which was perfect for Halloween)

Nice place in old town Walking distance to several restaurants and landmarks Nice staff Nothing fancy

1. Very Old hotel . Floors creak. Basic amenities like iron box not available. Though very friendly people.

This hotel was built in the 1920s. It has not been remodelled since. The rooms are victorian and dusty. The beds are creaky and infested with bed bugs. We couldn't sleep all night. The lift can take only 3 people at a time and is archaic. Most horroble experience for the price we paid. The Days Inn is misleading. Rooms are different sizes, some are in an attic like structure which requires one to haul bags up and down stairs.

They were incompetent but helpful. As in they screwed up the reservation, told us they couldn't help us, assigned us to a room where there was already a guest (which made for an awkward encounter when we entered at 10pm). They then just gave us a different room so the situation was, ultimately, remedied. Incompetent yet helpful? Illogical but true.

At Sonora, there is one Days Inn and close to it there is Sonora Inn acquired by Days Inn. They had a room for me @ Sonora Inn. Sonora Inn's experience is not at all at par with other Days Inn locations I have stayed. Rooms are small. Days Inn complimentary breakfast is considered to be good but at this location because of Sonora Inn acquisition, they provide breakfast at Sonora Inn which was not good. Hotel Staff didn't carry basic medicine like Tylenol which most hotels carry. Elevator at the hotel was not working so I had to carry the luggage to the top floor. In short a painful experience. Around this hotel there are other hotels which are quite good. [...]

will never stay there again. Sink plugged up first day, never repaired. forgot to clean room one day. Returned to find bed unmade, wastebaskets unemptied, bathroom not cleaned and no towels. also elevator was out of service all three days.

The inn is right in the middle of down town, on a major thoroughfare that is a junction of much traveled highways. It is an old hotel. It has character for anyone willing to put up with the externals.
