We stayed here the night before our 1 year anniversary. The staff are friendly and polite. The room is as expected. We decided to stay in York a second night so we were here on our actual one year anniversary but I couldn't warrant paying double the amount we paid literally the night before. We are now staying in Moxy which is fantastic.
I had a simple requirement, I wanted 3 apartments for 2 nights in York. One of us is disabled, and whilst he finds fully accessible rooms with lowered loo difficult, and prefers a standard, he does need a walk-in shower. All three of us prefer that. On the website it shows standard studios with 4 pics - one of a bathroom with bath, the other with walk-in shower, but no means of reserving this online. I called the general bookings number. An Irish guy who sounded completely out of it and uninterested. said to book the rooms then call and they would add comments that we wanted walk in showers. I had zero confidence. I tried the same 2 days later - this time a French lady who I found difficulty understanding. She said ONLY the accessible rooms had showers, ALL the others had baths. I said "so the pictures on your website are misrepresenting what your rooms offer then?". No answer. Just "that is the information I have". This is not unique to Staycity - this problem is encountered everywhere and it's damn time hotels chains got their acts together. We decided not to bother with the trip.
My husband and I recently stayed at stay city York and it was brilliant! The staff were friendly and helpful and the service was great. Our room was clean, fresh and had everything we needed, the kitchen area was a bonus! It is the prefect location, a really short walk to the town centre and all the sites! It also has a co-op directly underneath which is very convenient! Would highly recommend and we will definitely be staying again!
Fantastic position. Ten minute walk to the centre. Spacious, clean, very comfortable rooms. Klodi and all the staff were delightful, helpful and friendly. Excellent buffet breakfast. Would recommend this lively attractive aparthotel to anyone. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
First time I’ve made use of the facilities at the StayCity ‘ApartHotel’ but I was pleasantly surprised I can’t comment on cost as the bill was met by the company I was working for but I can’t see it being much more expensive than a Travelodge The hotel is located just outside the old city walls but no more than a 10 minute walk into the heart of York It’s a 20 minute walk from the railway station but bus routes service it very well It’s a good place to base yourself for a fairly long visit due to the facilities The lobby is very modern and is where the continental breakfast is served The food’s fairly basic-croissants toast cereal eggs meats fruit etc but there’s plenty of it The staff are welcoming and helpful and work hard I had a double room which is best described as functional but it was clean in every respect and with a small kitchenette which had everything you’d need to prepare your own basic meals if you stay for a week or two-Kettle toaster fridge dishwasher microwave cutlery crockery etc A good sized TV and a small table with 2 chairs (no comfy seats) The hotel has a laundry for use by guests and also a small gym with running and cycling machines and a weights machine I’ve only given 4 stars as I can’t comment on prices but I’d have no problem recommending this and its sister hotels to anyone and I’ll use again
A very basic room with kitchen facilities. We had a disabled room (didn’t request it) so the bathroom sink was wheelchair height. The water temperature for the shower was hard to maintain as was the pressure, the hotter I wanted it, the lower the pressure. Very friendly staff, quiet at night and comfortable beds and good flat screen tv. My main concern is the place is built like a labyrinth and with the security sensor lights, it’s really easy to get lost finding your way normally, I would hate to have to try and find my way out during an emergency.
Great staff, great apartment complex with excellent facilities. The studio apartment has everything you need for a city break - even washing up liquid (that is if you don't want to use the dishwasher). Great location and only a few minutes walking distance to all of what York has to offer. We would highly recommend Staycity York and would definitely stay again.
Stayed here for 2 nights. It was a good sized room on 1st floor with really good facilities. We only used the fridge, microwave and kettle but we had everything we needed. It is also useful to have a well stocked supermarket close by. Bed was very comfortable and the curtains were good blackouts so we slept well. Would definitely stay here again. The staff dealt well with the power cut that happened while we were there.Staff were very welcoming and helpful
This hotel was very stylish and my room was very comfortable and clean, with a large bed, table and chairs and fully equipped kitchen, which unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to use. Good location, close to the centre of York. I would use this hotel company again.
We stayed on a Thursday and Friday night with our two year old son. The good far outweighed the bad in that the apartment itself was clean, spacious and as well appointed as you could reasonably expect. We came by train and while it's a 20 minute walk from the station there are far worse places than York to spend 20 minutes walking through and the city centre itself is only 10 minutes away. The only downside from our perspective is that our room was located next to a stag party group for the first night and a hen party for the second. In fairness the apartments do run a noise curfew after 10 and the noise abated by 10.30 on each night, whether that through staff intervention or not I couldn't say. However, 10.30 is late if you have a tired two year old and it did make the difference between a 4 and a 5 star review.
