The location is awesome. Food was very good. A whole lot of stairs if your on the top floors

We stayed at the Lamb & Lion Inn for 2 nights. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean, and the location was fabulous! Our only 2 issues were the stairs (no elevator, we were on the top floor (4th) and it was hard for my mom to go up and down them multiple times a day) and the TV was a little staticy. We weren't watching up TV though so that wasn't a huge issue. We ate breakfast twice and both times they were very accommodating with dietary issues. We also ate dinner at the restaurant one of the evenings and it was delicious. We particularly enjoyed our waiter that evening. One tip...if waiting for a taxi in this area, go outside the city wall to the area with the taxi sign. We spent quite a bit of time, waiting for one, and didn't realize that we were standing in the wrong place. Overall, we had a lovely stay!

We loved the Lamb & Lion. Cozy, not tiny, attic room. Clean. Lovely accommodations. A bit of street and pub noise, not a complaint for us.

Our room here was lovely, but not at all spacious. I had to keep my luggage on the floor and step over it when I got out of bed. Also had to climb three flights of narrow steps to get there. That being said, the bed was comfortable, the water in the shower was hot and the room was clean. Free breakfast was a great start to the day. The pub closes at 11pm for outside patrons but "whenever" for guests staying at the hotel. The doors lock and the night maid pulls pints that get charged to your room. She put up with us and several other guests until 2am! Location was within walking distance to shopping and sights. Wish it was warmer when we were there so we could have taken advantage of the lovely beer garden. Overall a great stay!

Stayed here after picking it at random from a list of places in York. It is a great location. Right next to a castle ruin and above a pub and restaurant. I stayed in the attic room, which was bright, clean and fun. The staff was friendly and welcoming and they watched my bag for me after check out so I could wander around unencumbered. Breakfast was tops as well. I would stay here again.
