We held our wedding reception at Burn Hall recently and were very happy with the service we received from the team. They were very helpful and accommodated all the requests we had to make our celebration unique. The rooms are good with decent amenities and the breakfast served was great. Overall, we had a great time and will be returning in future! We'd also highly recommend the birds of prey centre next door!

being a seasoned traveller I expect to get what I pay for with friendly helpful staff especially when I have paid extra for a superior room my wife and I expect a hotel we book to be up to the standard to enjoy our stay. This hotel thought they could dismiss our objections with feeble excuses never before have i had to complete a negative summary of our stay anywhere

Me and my husband got married here on 7th September. From the first time we visited and met Nikki we knew the search for a venue was over. Set on absolutely stunning grounds that make for amazing pictures and 2 beautiful rooms we loved the place. The thing that made our decision though was how amazing Nikki was. From the second we sat down with her she listened to everything we said. She noted the things we liked and didn't like and was professional and friendly. I always said when planning a wedding I had to get on with whoever was helping us do it, and I couldn't get on with Nikki any better. She didn't try to force anything we didn't want on us, and she was so laid back about the whole process. Everytime i emailed Nikki replied within hours, anytime we wanted to go along there was never any awkwardness we were literally free to go whenever. We went for a menu tasting and because our starters were running 4 minutes late they brought us soup out to cover the time. - 4 minutes! The day before the wedding we literally dropped stuff in and Nikki was there to sort stuff out with us and the whole process took about 20-30mins. The day of the wedding she made sure everything ran smoothly and my husband was there on time, she was always there watching in the background and more than happy to muck in serving the food. Nikki and John were in touch with us both the entire day telling us what would be happening and when. We had so many people comment to us how helpful and lovely they were. The food was absolutely amazing, we had Goats Cheese and Marmalade Tart, Chicken stuffed with sausage meat, veg and potatoes and chocolate brownie. - the portions are very good!! I can't believe how lucky we fell and got the wedding of our absolute dreams - and for me a massive part of that was down to Nikki and John who are both the friendliest nicest people! If you're thinking about getting married here, go for that meeting and chat with them - you won't regret it!!!

So disappointed today, we booked afternoon tea with a special half price Groupon voucher. Other customers we presume had tea without a voucher, because they sat in a little room with tablecloths, while we were put in another room with no table cloth or place setting. The food was very poor, sandwiches very thin and damp. The ‘cakes’ were very disappointing too, the cream cake was a very thin slice of Madeira cake one and a half inches square with a tiny dot of cream and a raspberry. I personally thought that businesses that invited people to buy a Groupon voucher did so to promote their business and encourage people to return. We felt very undervalued and will not be returning.

Booked as part of a Groupon deal. 3 days, a cream tea, a free bottle of wine for the first evening meal and free entry to the bird of prey centre. Can't go wrong for a shade under £90.00 all in. The staff were friendly and attentive, the room, albeit not top class was comfortable and functional. The food (we had the fish and chips) was well prepared and tasty (although it was a bit of a stretch to call the obviously boiled then fried potatoes 'chips', they were tasty enough though). Although I am not a wine drinker, I was pleasantly surprised with the bottle of Hardys which came free with the meal. they serve a full english buffet breakfast with eggs cooked to order. The usual suspects are also available. Toast, marmalade, cereals, etc. Nice, well kept grounds and the bird of prey centre is a must.

We have just returned from a Travelzoo two night stay at Burn Hall. The hotel is set in very pleasant grounds and looks impressive on the outside. Check-in was efficient and were given a ground floor room in the new annex. The room was similar to those provided by Premier Inn. The bathroom was clean as was the rest of the room which had a king-size bed. We had pre-booked an evening meal in the restaurant and this is where the problems began. The head waiter gave the impression of going through the motions and lacked personality. We were directed to our table and shown a menu. I ordered "Creamy Garlic Mushrooms with a Cheddar Cheese Parsley Crumb." What I got was a bowl with the mushrooms covered in a thick layer of uncooked commercial breadcrumbs with no hint of either garlic, cheddar cheese or parsley. I pointed this out ti the waitress she served us but all she said was "Oh, I'll pass your comments on." My wife ordered the Chicken Kiev which also was devoid of any hint of garlic. The only saving grace was the hand cut triple cut chips which seemed to accompany most of the main course choices. The poor food continued at breakfast. My wife had bacon and scranbled eggs. The bacon was so hard it was impossible to cut with the knife provided and the scrambled egg had a crust on its top due to being in the serving dish too long. The breakfast menu stated that fried eggs were available but one would have to wait 15 minutes to get one!

This is our fourth visit to Burns Hall. It is situated in a quiet and peaceful location. We stayed in room 112. This room was on the ground floor, not far from the reception area, and dining room. The room was spotlessly clean, and had everything we needed. Upon booking we requested extra pillows and a fan in our room and upon arrival they were in the room as requested. The hotel staff work hard and are very friendly, and helpful. If there are any issues that may come up they will endeavour to sort the problem out as soon as is possible. Many thanks to the hotel staff for another great stay at Burns Hall.

Stayed here for two nights. Comfortable bed and nice spacious room - we were advised on arrival that we had been upgraded, so standard rooms likely to be a little smaller. Well maintained grounds and friendly staff throughout. very good location, being close to the Yorkshire Wolds, Eden camp, York and not far from the coast (Whitby, Filey and Scarborough). The hotel was very peaceful when we were there, staying over Sunday/Monday nights, but other residents we spoke to who were there on Saturday night said it was very busy owing to a wedding party. Nice breakfast, but if I was going to be picky it would have been improved by having grilled tomatoes and hash browns! Bird of Prey centre in the grounds was excellent and well worth a visit. Will definitely stay here again in the future.

Had a lovely stay, friendly helpful staff, excellent food. Only downside was our room needed a bit of a facelift but we’d stay again so not bad enough to put us off. Bird of prey centre next door was worth a visit, again friendly staff and very knowledgeable.

This hotel is 10 miles out of York. Clean comfortable and serviceable. Not much sitting area in lounge and bar especially when we were a coach full. Food good. There is a bird sanctuary within the grounds
