Was back at HI Yinchuan last wèek for another enjoyable stay Staff are super helpful and nothing bothers them.....even my endless stupid questions!!! Breakfast is great with local hand-stretched noodles and an endless array of dishes..... espresso coffee made me think I was in Italy!! Back again soon!!!
The hotel is nicely located with lot of business places around. The staff was nice and helpful. The breakfast buffet is huge, various with lot of fresh food. We spent 5 nights there with our team members for business meeting and enjoyed our stay in the hotel.
Stayed for 2 nights. I was told at check-in that the room did not include breakfast. I went back downstairs to reception after putting my bags in the room to show reception my room booking which clearly stated that breakfast was indeed included. The 2 ladies on reception were somewhat frosty, shrugged their shoulders, looked at a computer screen for a couple of minutes and then told me what time breakfast was - no apology (and, once again, no offer of a welcome drink as an IHG Member). The next morning the lady on the door at breakfast said my room was not on the breakfast list. I really could not be bothered having a discussion so I advised her to go and confirm with reception as I needed to quickly get something to eat before going to work. That afternoon I had to ask my friend from Ningxia to explain to reception once again that breakfast was included in the room and that I did not want to have to go through the same rigmarole once again the following morning. The breakfast itself was standard IHG fare, although with fewer options for the Western palate and a counter offering local Ningxia fare. The room was clean and adequate in size, but a little on the cold side (no way to turn up the heating) and no view as it was inward facing. All told, an average stay that will soon be forgotten.
The hotel is located in old downtown of Yinchuan, opposites some shopping malls and plazas nearby. The car park is big and safe. The room is clean and quite big, however the rooms are smoking rooms. You need to inform the front desk in advance that you need non-smoking room floor. Breakfast is delicious and full variety of bot International and local foods. The housekeeper is very nice and supportive. Overall is nice place to stay for having a conference.
This is just as you would expect from a Holiday Inn in China. The staff were warm and friendly all throughout the hotel. Rooms are well-appointed and very comfortable. Absolutely nothing to complain about. Buffet breakfast was expansive and pretty good. The hotel is a great location, 20 minutes walk from the Drum Tower. The famously DaMaJiaoZiGuan (DaMa Dumplings) is also right down the street. Pool was also good size.
Considering there are no more international brands in the city, that's your best choice) Staff speaks English fairly well at the reception (not room service or housekeeping though but manageable). Rooms are getting very very old and are quite dark but overall stay was not too bothersome opposite to expected)
I was lucky enough to pick this place on my first trip to Yinchuan in Jan 2016 and had an excellent two week stay and am currently in the 2nd of 3 weeks in April 2016. This place has all the mod cons you'd expect from a North American/European hotel but unbelievably friendly and helpful service and attention to detail. The breakfast is held in a big space which ensures there is always somewhere to sit even in busy times and serves a wide range of chinese and western food which change slightly each day. There are also omlette and noodle chefs available and everyone is taken care of by the excellent Ricki and Nina. The hotel lobby is a traditional wide atrium with a fair bar but there is a great bar in the 2nd floor which serves hoegarden for £2 and often has decent live music. The third floor contains the Gym n Swimming pool, where you may need shorts rather than speedos The rooms are what you would expect from Holiday Inn and very clean and all facilities work well, and the laundry service was excellent. On the top floor is the executive lounge which holiday inn members and certain rooms have access to which again is great, esp the snacks/free beer during happy hour between 5-7pm. All in all a great place to stay and already looking forward to the final trip out here in August. One tip, ask for a room facing the front as it has a great view, including a catholic church and some fair sunsets
Stayed there with some friends during our visit for 4 days and 3 nights ... The hotel offers all what you expect and you really can relax after your full days of treks and visits ... Didn't have the time or energy left to enjoy the pool, but it seems very pleasant from what we saw ... Service and check-in are flawless ... The staff is very friendly and even though we stayed a short time, they recognized us every morning or every evening and took the time to chat and exchange, making the atmosphere less anonymous ... Rooms are nicely set up and well equipped ...You fell very cosy ... Buffet breakfast offers you lots of choices and allows you to get ready for a full day of activities ... The hotel kindly accepted a late check out since our plane was leaving late in the evening ... Thank a lot for that nice attention ... Wasn't the first time in Ningxia, but this time, was even better because of this hotel ... Will surely be back ...
I stopped off for dinner and was blown away by the restaurant on the third floor. A coworker and I ordered 5 dishes and everything was incredible. Excellent service and great food. I highly recommend for anyone. The hotel lobby is huge and very impressive - especially for a Holiday Inn. I would compare this to a higher end Marriott or Hyatt back in the USA.
So let's keep in mind the the Holiday Inn isn't uber luxury - never has been, never will be. That said, our stay here was great. Staff were attentive, the breakfast has an amazing spread for a hotel in a small-time Chinese province - I've traveled a lot of China and this was probably one of (if not the) best spread I've had outside the big cities - you can sample general Chinese, continental European or local Hui Muslim food. The room was cozy, the shower good - the amenities aren't great, but hey, it's a Holiday Inn, not a Ritz. Would recommend to anyone who doesn't want to spend big for the Kempinski or Wanda - which, incidentally, are at least double the price..
