Coast Fraser Tower Hotel3.0 out of 5.0

The room is large, conform, clean and every things inside the full kitchen is working well. However, their location is a bit out of city center and you have to walk in freezing temperature for 15 minutes before you can get something from the grocery store or when you have to dinning out. The lack of shuttle service to and from airport is an other drawback.
I thought that I was getting a room and to my surprise I got a small apartment, which was great. I was very clean and comfortable and close to downtown Yellowknife, which would permit to buy groceries if anyone would not want to eat out. The hotel staff was very nice and accommodating.
This is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in all my local and international travels. It is strategically located; the hotel staff are pleasant, cordial, efficient, and very hospitable; the room we got is big with balcony (and smoking is allowed!), and comes with free breakfast; they have free flowing northern brew of starbucks coffee; and, the view is fantastic!
This was a really excellent hotel. We were in Yellowknife for a wedding so my husband and I stayed in a two bedroom suite with his parents. We stayed on the 13th floor with a sweeping view of downtown. It was lovely to have the balcony as it was really hot when we were there in August. Fans were available to help circulate the air and black out curtains to block out the midnight sun. The living space was ample and the kitchen was well supplied for our needs. The staff were really helping and accommodating to our requests. I was impressed by the amount and variety of food on offer for the breakfast and tea and coffee were Starbucks. It was a very quiet location in a residential area of town. It was about a 15 min walk downtown and a 30 minute walk to the Old Town. The only downside was that the internet only worked periodically in one corner of our suite which was annoying. I believe this one of the tallest buildings in Yellowknife so ask for an upper floor room!
The Coast Fraser Tower isn't my favorite hotel in Yellowknife, or the Northwest Territories...it's my favorite hotel in Canada! If you get a chance to stay here...take it. A view of the Northern Lights from my 10th floor balcony was spectacular.
The kitchen and balcony are super! We can see aurora dancing from our balcony! Buffet breakfast is sumptuous and hot coffee/tea and refreshing cold water are offered free in the lobby. Excellent location near the city center. Safe and quiet at night.
Stayed there from Sep 13 to 16. So glad to be giving a suite on the 13th floor, the top floor with lift access! Check in was quick and the front desk helpful. Really impressed with the well equipped kitchen, and the dish washer handy for those who would cook and dine in the spacious kitchen and dining area. The grocery in the downtown area had plenty of choices and we dined in all three nights. Breakfast was basic but available up to 11 am, welcomed after a night out aurora hunting. The suite was well kept and spacious for the three of us, we enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended to anyone who would make use of the kitchen.
Great hotel. Suites with balconies. Amazing view of northern lights. Free breakfast is a great benefit. I highly recommend staying at coast Fraser towers in Yellowknife. Location is close to downtown.
Stayed at the Coast Fraser Tower for 4 nights. There were 3 of us sharing a 2 bedroom apartment. Having the full kitchenette was very helpful for keeping snacks and food that we took with us on day trips out of town. Staff was friendly and helpful with touristy questions. The continental breakfast was well done - breads and bagels were all separately bagged in Ziplocs. There was coffee, tea and water always available in the lobby. One thing that set the Coast Fraser apart for me was the balcony. I was able to go out during the night and see the northern lights right over the city. The only reason the rating isn't tops is the terrible wifi service. None of us was able to connect the entire time we were there. If you require reliable internet, this isn't your best bet. For the rest of us, a solid option.
Arrived at hotel today at 5pm room not ready had to wait over hour till could have a room. This booking was for a special birthday celebration and the arrival totally ruined start of stay. I was promised a call from manager still waiting. Not impressed with hotel service so far, seems the norm at this hotel. Shame coast ruined our holiday
