This is our third time at Barcelo Maya in Riviera Maya. Overall experience was great, except for the dinner at Tokyo. When we got to our dinner reservation we were seated separately from our friends because our reservation was for the table with the show and theirs was not since there were no stots available for the table with show at the time they made their reservations. However, during the actual dinner time our table was not fully occupied. There were only 4 of us seated for a table of 12. So I asked the manager if my friends could join us at our table since they were only 4 of them. She refused my request. Even our lady server noticed that our table was not full and asked us if we have friends coming. So I told her that our friends were seated at the table with no show. She went to talk to the manager to ask if our friends could be moved to our table. Again, the manager refused. I don’t understand why she would refuse our request. She’s very rude and frustrating to talk to and shows very poor customer service.

Everything is perfect

This property was very clean. The staff was outstanding. Everything was so wonderful, we are making this place our new vacation spot!

First I’m upset that I can’t get ahold of orbits please call me asap. We booked 11 days and it was a nightmare, check in was at least 2 hours with nobody waiting, I have most of my room cards that I decided to keep, the resort is huge and our room key didn’t work and we had to get new cards several times a day, the counter employees manager kept blaming us that the cards were deactivated by our phone and this isn’t our first vacation our room cards were never close to our phone, there was 40 of our family members and had the same issue, the room was old and I found stuff people left under our bed, my sister got bedbugs and had to see the doctor at the resort on her dime. The food was disgusting! The only place that was Halfway decent was the buffet at colonial. I kept telling them I had fibromyalgia and they literally laughed, the resort outside is very nice but the inside of caribe and Barcelo beach rooms are not clean at all.

Horrible experience. AC broke in first room provided. They lied and said they fixed the issue, which a lie. Temp never changed. I was ignored by staff members as they flirted and laughed amongst eatchother. I paid $1700 to move to another room. He said no more rooms were available so I had to pay premier. What a joke. Won’t stay there ever again!

Great Resort and friendly staff.

Service, food: 5 stars.

Beautiful place - been there 3 times. However there was a continuous noise disturbance near our room that awoke us every hour or so the entire trip. It was NOT door slamming, but rather something else. Something mechanical. But they could not help us. Said they had no idea what it was. Welcome staff at the main dining areas were very nice. Some waiters were okay. Beach dining areas were another story. Waiters didn't seem to care anything about you when you walked in and sat down. Had to get up and ask for help every time. Coffee machine was always non operable. Really bad this time. Seaweed was terrible on the beach. Piled up and smelled pretty bad. All it would take is a morning cleanup, but it didn't happen. Inconsistent maid service. Supposed to come every other day as we indicated upon check-in, but they came every day. Sometimes 1 bath towel, sometimes 8. No bath mat until the last day. Sometimes coffee and water, sometimes nothing. Also, the nightly shows have changed a great deal from our pre-covid visits. Used to have big productions that were good. They have been scaled way back. Not worth attending.

The first inconvenience was that we bought for a Riviera Maya beach facility and they moved us to the colonial Mayan Riviera without asking us if we agreed, another reason that I did not like was that they stole $ 1000 and a T-shirt from the room. I never received a call back it was disrespectful, the rooms need to be repaired, in short I don't eat that hotel. Very disappointed

Don’t stay here

Either Orbitz or Barcelo moved us from the Palace to the Colonial no apologies or consideration from either party. Staff didn’t care if you were there or not especially if you were old and white we always tip well and enjoy interacting with the staff but is was so bad we quit. Pillows in the room were in tatters if you looked inside the case ,mattress was broken down . When you don’t get what you booked and no one cares you should probably use someone else lost faith in Orbitz and I have booked nearly all my travel with you for several years

This is our third time at Barcelo Maya in Riviera Maya. Overall experience was great, except for the dinner at Tokyo.
