Regularly stay here whilst working at the companies Redditch showroom. Organised a sales event, booked 4 rooms for Tuesday 8 rooms for Wednesday, 3 weeks in advance. Specifically requested and booked for room and breakfast, on day of checkin informed only rate available was with, included dinner. I explained this was not as booked, not requested or required, informed that’s that was the only room rate available for all guests “if you want a room you must take the dinner option” requested this be removed and told not possible, asked to speak to manager was told “no you have not been charged for dinner it’s just that we include it FOC”, then told “hotel is very busy so we charge a premium” Both management and staff could not give a consistent explanation. On the two nights stayed hotel was not even busy. Suggest when booking this or any other room with Ex by HI, you look out for this underhand trick.
Room clean tidy free wifi freeview. Be prepared for the rules that whatever card you book with you must have that card on arrival or your booking will be cancelled. Macdonalds vue cinema local shop all within walking distance
Never stayed at a Holiday Inn Express before, so not sure what to expect for a bargain £50 for B&B for two adults. In a word, Excellent. A modern building with lifts (makes a change to dragging bags up stairs). A warm welcome at reception with a speedy check-in process. A very clean hotel with good signage. The en-suite room was larger than many other hotels, with a large bed, sofa, table and chair, and flat screen tv with freeview. Not a lot of space for clothes so probably more appropriate for short stays. The self service breakfast was both continental and full english. Not as much choice as some other hotels, but easily enough for the money paid. Excellent value. We did not eat an evening meal, but the prices seemed reasonable. We stayed here when visiting family in Birmingham, which was only a 20 min drive away. Plenty of parking at the hotel, and it was in a fairly quiet location. Highly recommended.
Booked a family room to stay mid-week (two adults, two children) for just £62 ~ & that's with a buffet breakfast included. Great value for money. Our room was clean & comfortable. Unfortunately the breakfast experience loses this hotel a star. The staff just didn't manage to keep up with diners' demands & several items were unavailable for lengthy periods of time, causing small queues of irritated guests to form. I had to wait 16 minutes for the croissants to be replenished & when they did finally arrive they were exceptionally doughy & not very nice at all. To be fair, my wife & the children enjoyed their breakfasts but I most certainly didn't.
Visited the NEC with my wife and chose a hotel slightly out (30mins) from the NEC. Excellent price that included breakfast. Was a better deal than Premier Inn that was higher price just for the roo and no breakfast. The compromise was a smaller and slightly less comfier bed. Location was good, parking was good and it was quiet. No late night revellers sharing their merriment. Just 5 mins walk to Redditch shops and small retail centre. Breakfast was the standard hotel breakfast, service efficient, tables cleaned quickly after guests leave a table. Stayed for 2 nights and had the evening meal after getting tired after the NEC. Having stayed at many HIEXPRESS hotels over the years the food has improved in quality. Perfectly acceptable. Staff in the evening were a little busy for the first 10 mins, after that the service was excellent. Reception staff were helpful and polite and efficient to not just us but to other guests as well that we observed. Thumbs up. 👍
Came here for a two night stay, rooms very clean and comfortable, breakfast food was the best I’ve ever had at a holiday inn and staff very friendly from reception to housekeeping, will definitely be staying again if we ever come up again
I went to the Holiday Inn overnight as a stopover before a convention with my son. The room was cheap, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. It was big, and the main things needed (good shower, comfy bed, clean and quiet) were all ticked boxes for me. Breakfast was great; real eggs, proper cereal. Coffee was not so good but I bring my own so it was fine. Staff were friendly. The car parking all day was an easy bonus. I’d come again.
Looking at the surrounding area it was a shame I had limited time to spend locally. It would make a good base for travelling, or a stop off as part of a longer journey. As always helpful, friendly staff and the hotel facilities and rooms just as expected.Nice selection for breakfast, but the dinning area was not huge so could potentially get busy.It was a quick stop for me, but ticked all the boxes, would stay again which is the main thing
One night stay for me & my daughter for a dance competition. The hotel is really handily located next to the train station for those using public transport. Seems a newly built hotel, rooms were spacious, and well appointed. I'd booked a double room, but as the receptionist saw it was myself and my daughter she offered to swap us into a twin room, which was much more suited to our needs. There was a large flat screen tv in the room, hot & powerful shower, fully functioning air conditioning, and free wifi for the duration of the stay. The rooms were quiet, no noise from within or outside the hotel. Beds were comfortable, and we had a great night's sleep. My only criticism of the room is that I would have liked to see a plug socket closer to the mirror, enabling me to do my hair. The nearest socket was the other side of the wardrobe area, which most electric styling gadgets wouldn't reach. Free parking on site, which is quite a bonus for a town centre hotel. Lots of takeaways located just at the end of the road, which is handy if you don't fancy eating in the hotel's restaurant. We had the breakfast, included in the price. Good selection of breads, croissants, cereals, drinks, and bacon, sausage, eggs, beans. All looked and tasted fresh, and no limits.
This is the second time we have stayed here. It's good value for money. The rooms are comfortable and clean. A good variety for breakfast, plenty of parking space. Would recommend. Ideally situated for sightseeing.
