Winston-Salem Hotel and Spa

I feel terrible even saying this... The only saving grace to this hotel is the staff. They are absolutely wonderful. Warm, welcoming, kind and helpful. The hotel itself is under construction. It is filled with construction workers in and out on a daily basis. I couldn't even open my drapes because there were workmen on the balcony. I would never sit by the pool in a bathing suit because they were always in and out and I was very uncomfortable. It's not in the greatest area. The hotel had a weird smell. It was the only time I literally felt unsafe in a hotel. I didn't sleep well because of it. The spa was amazing. Wonderful staff and a serene environment. As I said, hopefully when the construction is completed, this hotel will be up to par.

It was ok, nothing special. The grounds look overgrown and messy. The room was comfortable and mostly clean. The fire alarm was going off for about an hour around midnight so that was annoying.

Hotel was priced nicely for the area. Room was clean although I can't give it a better rating as the last person staying in the room had their room keys on the desk which makes me question how much was actually clean, and caused great annoyance when those cards were accidentally taken and Inwas locked out of my room. The cleaning staff loved to gossip LOUDLY right outside my door while they cleaned and then thought it would be a great idea to barricade my door with all of their carts and offer not one instance of acknowledgement when I had to push two of there carts out of the way to just get out. Outside of that... The bed was clean and comfortable. The TV was crap quality and made me question my own vision until I realized the TV itself was blurry. The room needs touch ups and the ones that were done seemed to be done with haste. I would stay here again due to the proximity and price.

Reception people were helpful and professional. The hotel in general was a bit run down. Bed was hard as a rock. Sheets and towels were acceptable. Elevator was small and a bit run down. I won't stay here again.

This hotel is in a good location and offers a comfortable experience at a great price.

The front desk staff were superb. There were a few things that should have been done better: the breakfast room is quite dingy (perhaps they'll be remodeling--it needs it!) only washcloths were replaced with clean--and we only used one. I don't mind reusing towels in the interest of saving energy, but there should be a note left to that effect. Either all towels, or those placed on the floor, or whatever--but not randomly replaced. Finally, there was a huge snafu with the onsite spa. While I now know that it's run by an independent group, the hotel does have spa in it's name. The spa was closed during posted business hours. When we inquired at the front desk, the staff person went above and beyond to try to schedule appointments for us. He was successful and we showed up for the appointments only to be told that they were already booked and we couldn't be seen. While this mis-communication was entirely the spa's fault, it was frustrating nonetheless and we ended up wasting some precious time and it reflects badly on the hotel and colored our opinion of our stay.

Enjoyed nice and affordable room. Especially jazz in the lobby.

I stayed here because of the proximity to Wake Forest University and it is very convenient to campus. The hotel rooms are clean and neat and a good deal at that price. Breakfast options are very limited.

Easy walking distance WF football and tennis complex. Cold AC, friendly staff.

The hotel is in a good location but it's not that nice. The breakfast is continental but everything looks processed and not so fresh. We decided to go to starbucks instead of having breakfast at the hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful. Room smelled of mold.

The room was pretty basic. Not too bad but definitely not the best. It was ok for what I was expecting though.

There were bugs and dirty carpet, walls etc.. Would not recommend.

Nice room with plenty of space. Comfortable bed, desk and sofa. Had refrigerator and microwave. The bath was small, but very clean. I would use this hotel again.

The facility is very old with some shoddy updates at best. The bathroom is too small to even dress in - cant even sit on the toilet and close the door! The elevator is squeaky and warn out. The couch in the room was badly stained and smelly. There was a rusty hose on the property and overhead awning was hanging down and falling apart. The Price was too much for the accommodations and setup.

Room was clean, front desk staff was courteous and helpful with local info. Breakfast better than most.

Let me start with the good thing about this hotel...the staff! Accomadating and friendly! As for the hotel, the walls were paper thin, the beds were uncomfortable, the location was not the best. The pictures are decieving as well. Oh and no hot water in the morning. Not worth the money!

This hotel is right across the street from the football, baseball and basketball sites for Wake Forest. It is also about a mile from the back entrance to the campus.

over night stay-staff courteous

The hotel was obviously older and been renovated a decade ago in a shoty manner. Bathroom seals yellowed and moldy, dirty cabinetry, old tv( one of those wood grained big screens from the early 90's),rickety elevators, dingey entrance, lack of a bar besides the fridge behind the front desk full of wine and beer, & business center non-operational - overall a weird place. Staff was super nice. I was the only person staying there so they had a lot of time to show attention towards me.

Front desk was very nice and professional. We had a pet, so we were in a different class. Very close to football stadium. Room was average. A few ants in the bathroom which seemed to multiply. Everything else was fine. Bed was good. A little noisy, the staff was moving carts to and fro, and we were on the end of the hall. Breakfast was outstanding. Lounge had live entertainment. I would go back and recommend with a few reservations regarding the noise and the ants.
