Super 8 Winona MN

2.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

We were in the area to search for family grave stones and do some genealogy. This hotel was a good price and conveniently located

I had a perfect stay in Winona, and the Super 8 was a nice part of that. Hotel mgr was great!!

Staff were nice. Good breakfast offerings. Convenient location. Door to room allowed all of the hallway sound to come thru. A number of rooms are partially below ground level, putting the windows at the asphalt parking lot level. That isn't much of a view plus car headlights really blast thru the window. Higher level rooms of course would not have that problem. There was no vent fan in the bathroom. The bathroom was spacious.

The hotel was ok. Nothing fancy, not horrible, it did the job. The staff was helpful and nice, they offered to call us a cab, then called us when it arrived, we really appreciated that. Location was good, pretty much in the center of town, close to stores and restaurants. The outside was getting painted when we were there. No elevator for those that have a problem with stairs.

The hotel and room was very clean. Not much trailer parking as the hotel is built on a hillside. We had a nice stay.

I have stayed here to last few years when I come to Winona. We stayed for four nights this time the beds were nice the staff was great. They gave mme a room not on first floor like requested.. however the each floor smelled like cigerate smoke, and the breakfest always the same no change up

I have stayed at this hotel before and had a very nice things to say about the hotel itself and the friendly staff.

We were there to visit friends. The price was decent. When we first got there the bathroom sink plug would not come up staff took care of it fast... however they were a few staff members a bit pushy seemed like were having a.bad day.

The entire building shares 1 vending machine and 1 ice machine. The vending machine didn't even stock bottled water. Seemed like the variety was being supplied by the building owners preference when they were shopping in a grocery store.

I was pleasantly surprised how nice and comfortable the beds were. The room was nicely updated. The only thing I thought was weird was that my brother and his family was in a room next to my mine, and his beds were hard a rock.

Great Location Nice Staff Dirty Carpets in common area Smells like an ash tray

Went to the area for a wedding and just needed a place to stay overnight. Good price and good place to stay for the night if that is all you are looking for. Good location, restaurants, fast food, Target, Wal Mart, Walgreens & gas stations all nearby. Breakfast was ok, cereal, waffles, yogurt, pastries, toast, juice, milk, coffee. Bedroom is nice, beds are comfortable. It was nice to have a fridge in the room. Perfect place for us because it was just an overnight stay.

The hotel really needs a update. very run down and dirty. The beds were very uncomfortable.

It was fine. The heater worked well. Someone's old, old coffee was left in the microwave and that was kinda gross, but otherwise the room seemed clean. Friends next door had hot water flowing out of their sink drain at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, probably from a shower upstairs. They said they were compensated for moving to a different room...those things happen and the staff was great about it. With the crazy winter and frozen pipes below ground throughout MN we are learning to expect the unexpected, however unfortunate. Take away - - the staff was pleasant and accommodating, room seemed clean and price was a little below other chains in town. I'd stay there again if I just needed a place to sleep.

Good front desk attention; professionally attired. Easy location to find. Room clean, bath/shower could be bleached and/or updated. Price was fair. Quiet end room.

I've been staying at this hotel for the last 8 years as we visit family in Winona. I'm pleased with the changed that have occurred since Super 8 bought the motel. (Except I wish they didn't stop serving the local donuts and fresh milk at the breakfast!!!)

I got what I paid for! I had reserved a non-smoking room a few months prior to our trip. We just needed a room to crash in after a 50th wedding anniversary party. We arrived at the hotel and I was informed that the only rooms available were smoking. I didn't think it would be a big deal, but was I wrong! We walked into the room and were greeted with a wave of stale smoke. It almost took my breath away. We opened the window and cranked the vent on, but that could only help so much. As we were settling in, I noticed that the door hadn't closed all the way. Upon further examination, I noticed that the bolt was out. I attempted to turn the latch, but to no avail. My husband went to the front desk and informed the front desk clerk of our problem. She told him that it was probably a low battery in the lock. She would be able to put a work order in for the lock, but that wouldn't be until the following day, which would be of no use to us. She did come up to the room to make sure we could get the latch closed, but she informed me that we basically could use the bolt at our own risk because it might get stuck in the same position again and wouldn't be able to get out. We decided we weren't willing to spend the rest of our lives in the stinky hotel. We were also disappointed in the amenities. The ice machine spit out about 5 chunks of ice. The TV volume would only go up about a third of the way. The beds were not comfortable! Every movemnet created a creaking noise and the blankets were scratchy and uncomfortable. Not exactly what I was looking for seeing that I am 7 months pregnant. So overall, I would say that I would fork out the extra dollars to stay at a better place!

My expectations were not real high; it's a Super 8. BUT, this was a nice property. Room was spacious, clean, and modern. Hallways had that old smokey hotel aroma, but room was fresh. Price, with discount, was good.

The hotel is conveniently located, is clean and even had a microwave and refrig in the room. New carpet was being installed and it looks great. The breakfast buffet was good but was loaded with carbs - not many non-carb choices.

Easy check in and out clean comfortable room good value nothing fancy but all I needed
