I only stayed the one night. Nothing special about this property. Location on Portage was convenient. The adjoining restaurant was decent but walking through a dingy VLT and bar area to get there wasn't impressive. No real complaints though. It's no worse or better than any of the hundreds of hotels I've stayed in over the years.
Staff here are incredibly professional and kind, I stayed here before and I was lucky to get Austin again on checkin. He was very polite like last time, again offering to take our bags to our room. The rooms are cleaned incredibly well! We stayed at the start of the month and will always stay with this lovely hotel!
Nice comfortable room with the exception of cleanliness of the carpet. It was obvious that the housekeeping staff overlooked this requirement after the last visit. Reception could also use some improvement. The young fellow that looked after us was friendly but we both felt uncomfortable by his appearance. No professionalism there. The front desk staff are the first impression of the hotel chain. Perhaps restricting employees to a clean appearance is in order.
I stayed at the Howard Johnson for 2 weeks as I was looking for a place to live here in Winnipeg. Honestly the staff are all amazing and there was even a situation where I could not pay for two days, because I had been there for 12 days they trusted my word. Of course I payed and all was well. I will always give Howard Johnson my business now wherever I go.
I booked my room with Wyndam points and on the sign outside says that the rooms are renovated. We walked into our room the comforter was stained the floors/carpet were not cleaned or vacuumed very dirty and the cilicone around the bath tub has black mold in it..
The Winnipeg west HOJO was clean and the staff were friendly, although there are no elevators to the second floor the staff was willing to help with luggage. We upgraded to the business class room and found it spacious and worth the extra $10.00 charge.
Nice hotel , cheap rates , great breakfast under 5 bucks . Beverage room , lounge and restaurant top notch .
Came here for a quick overnight visit and for $60 a night it was adequate. Clean rooms that look to have been renovated recently. Front desk staff were friendly and efficient. This is an older ‘motel style’ Hojo and with direct access to the road you could hear / see the traffic overnight. Not a huge concern but you get what you pay for. Would recommend this place for an inexpensive stay overnight - good value for $60-$70.
When I walked into this hotel, I felt like turning around and forfeiting my deposit because it did not appear to meet my standards of clean. I should have done so. After checking out I developed a half-dozen raised, swollen, itchy bumps like hives but in places at the edges of my sleeping garments. Many years ago when I was a student I had bedbug bites, and these are exactly the same. I chose this hotel because of location and because it has a restaurant. I'm staying down the street next time.
When ever we travel to Winnipeg, this is our go to place to stay. Our last trip in was two weeks ago, we stayed for three nights, the staff are pleasant and we are always well rested when we back on the road!!
