Mercure White Hart Salisbury

Recent guest reviews

My husband and I stayed at the White Hart Hotel in 2003 and absolutely loved everything about it at that time. The decor was beautiful green/blue plaids, fabulous food - dinner and buffet breakfasts and the rooms were very comfortable back then. Now, Mercure owns the hotel and the decor is bland, carpets are worn in the hotel and in our room, the air conditioning was rattling and we had to engage the staff 2nd evening when our dirty, damp towels were simply hung back up in the bathroom. Not acceptable. There was a wedding going on in the main dining room, thus, my husband and I celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary in a smaller dining room and had a wonderful Italian waiter who provided the very best service in making our anniversary dinner wonderful. There is a lack of french wines, but we decided to buy a bottle of Chateauneuf du Pape to go with our initial glasses of french champagne. The buffet breakfast was very good each morning and our last dinner at the hotel was delicious as we asked the chef to provide us with roast chicken and fresh vegetables and we again bought a wonderful french chablis. We had a wonderful time in spite of the changes and decline of the hotel from back in 2003. Also, the double bed was very poor - the mattress was hard and sank in the middle. I don't believe we would return to this hotel again because of the overall changes.

Short working distance to shops, cathedral and restaurants

Easy to find, nice location, good service.

we had a good experience at this hotel. the room was modern and comfortable. the bath was small but usable. the beds were new and the decor was fresh. for a mid price hotel in the uk, it was better than average.

The staff was very courteous, helped us with directions, luggage and with my Mom's walker which was problematic with the absense of the elevator. The hotel was easy to find and in a good location.

Pros: Convenient Location Historical Building Helpful Staff Decent View In-room CD Player In-room Tea & Biscuits Cons: No elevator Unrenovated floors lack Air Conditioning/Heating Road Noise Internet in Lobby didn't work Loud toilet Uncomfortable Bed The renovated floors are likely better.
