I stayed one night in the White Hart and that was probably enough. The double room I had was pretty tatty with a worn out carpet and random daubs of paint on the walls. The bed was also pretty uncomfortable due the very obvious split between the two single mattresses. The bathroom was tiny and pretty scruffy too. On the plus side it’s in a very central location, offers parking and the staff were really pleasant. The breakfast would also have been great had the salmon served with the eggs royale not been massively over salted! Not quite sure how the chef managed it but that’s how they arrived which discouraged me from ordering anything else.
Hotel has kept all of its original features, so don't expect a 'modern' hotel experience. Short walk from the cathedral and maim shopping area. Breakfast from the kitchen (kippers & poached eggs) was delicious.
We decided to visit Salisbury over Easter to see the cathedral and stone henge. We arrived early and they had our room ready a lovely four poster bed executive room. The room was old style but comfortable with modern bathroom. We did ask O change room to one at the back of the hotel as we are light sleepers. We tried the bar in the evening and had some Taittinger which was reasonably priced. Again nice comfortable bar setting. We both had the best nights sleep in awhile and felt well rested. We had breakfast included and this was a great start to the day. Good option of hot food. This is a lovely hotel for a visit to Salisbury very homely comfortable feel.
Stayed here for 3 nights. Very clean and comfortable, good breakfast, friendly and helpful staff, very close to Salisbury cathedral and numerous pubs / restaurants. We arrived on the train and took a taxi to the hotel. A little too far to walk for me especially pulling luggage and a shoulder bag. Also, if you want to go to Stonehenge, most taxi drivers will take you, wait for you (an hour or so) and bring you back to the the hotel for about 50 - 60 Euro. My work schedule didn't line up with the tour bus schedule but this option worked well and split it with my 2 colleagues. Just talk to the taxi drivers who are mainly locals and very helpful.
The rooms are need need of updating. The carpets are a bit messy and the curtains ripped in places. One of our party in another room found a half smoked cigarette butt on the floor by the window. Not sure how the cleaners could have missed this. However, the reception is nice, comfortable seating and the staff are very courteous. I went to the bar late evening to ask for some bottled water to buy and the young barman offered to get me some mineral water from the kitchen in pop-top bottles, for free, nice touch. The hotel is well positioned in town and especially near to the cathedral
Very comfortable 2 nights stay in one of the upgraded rooms. Good sized room with all the necessities of a business trip including good free wifi. I didn't use the restaurant for evening meals but the breakfast was very good and plenty of choice for you to choose from which set you up for the day. Staff are friendly and attentive but the reception seems understaffed and at busy times you have to wait some time - when i went to check out there was actually nobody at the desk and a member of the waiting staff had to go and find them for me. I would definitely stay here again as its a great central location to explore Salisbury and the surrounding areas.
Always try to stay here when in Salisbury. Staff very friendly and efficient. Admittedly the building fabric is beginning to require an upgrade but the proximity to the town centre and availability of parking (£6/day even if guest) makes it the hotel of choice.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Location was great, all the points of interest such as the Cathedral, restaurants, etc were within a short walking distance. The customer service was brilliant. The reception staff were very attentive. The lounge area was very comfortable. Didn't use the restaurant but saw people having afternoon tea once and it looked great. The room was smaller than expected. The bathroom was a few steps lower than the bedroom area. The room was a bit cold as it is an older building, windows are single glazing and the weather outside was pretty cold, but heating was on permanently at night which is when we were in the room, so can't fault them in that respect. Would stay here again although probably in a bigger room.
My wife and I have been regular diners over the years. We had lunch there yesterday and were disappointed by the stale bread and poorly cooked main courses. The service was excellent. We had a coffee in the lounge which is fitted out with newly upholstered furniture but let down by all the table tops which were scratched. GS
Stayed for one night. Rooms reasonable price for what you get. Communal areas quite comfortable. Took ages to be served at the quiet bar. The room was fine, although most of the furniture had seen better days and the carpet actually had “bunched up” areas. Bathroom was adequate with an over bath shower. Room extremely hot on a day when it was bitterly cold outside. Had the heating off during visit. Highlight of the trip was at 9.55.p.m. The phone rang during Coronation Street ( on +1) to tell us that someone had complained that the T.V was too loud and could we turn it down. Incredible. Without checking! We are both in our 60s, well behaved and not deaf! T.Vs are on the side of the room opposite the bed, meaning a bed will be on the other side. However it was not late and was only Corrie, come on. Staff should be trained to be fair and make balanced judgements. We did oblige but at that time of the evening I feel someone should have come up and checked. We felt it really unreasonable and upsetting! Wouldn’t return as left feeling awful.
