Stains were plentiful in the hallways and on the room's furniture. There was a "wet dog" smell in our room that was very unpleasant. The air conditioner worked well but very loud. Shower's water pressure was decent. Continental breakfast was sub par as the "eggs" were not hot and the "sausage" looked like dead caterpillars. I'd suggest staying somewhere else even if the staff was friendly.

I didn't have high expectations for this hotel but I generally just needed a clean, convenient place, went in knowing it was an older hotel and would not have all the updates. 1st, the hotel staff was not friendly,on their phones during check in. juice spilled all over the front lobby. We got checked in, moved our belongings to the room and went to dinner. came back over 2 hours later, container of juice was still sitting on the lobby floor. The floors in the lobby directly in front of and inside the elevators were soaked due to people not drying off from the pool. went downstairs to get breakfast at 8 am. Everything was out. The tables were disgusting, there was maybe one bowl of cereal left in the container but no milk, bagels but no cream cheese, toast but no jelly. There was a line for the waffle maker that was full of at least 15 people that wrapped around the small space and made it hard to get to anything as no one would move since waffles seemed to be the only thing available to eat. Hot Bar was empty. Left hungry and took our family to Busch Gardens. We stayed from open to close. Got back at 9pm, halls were lined with trash and dirty linens. Room was not cleaned, beds unmade. Repeat this process for 4 days and catch an attitude from the staff when we would request clean towels since our room was not cleaned. They would make us come back down to the lobby for towels and would try to give us just 2 at a time for a family of 4. Need more space to write how bad it is!!!

very clean I will stay there again close to a lot of things I recommend this hotel you will be very pleased with it

We really enjoyed our stay at the Howard Johnson! The staff was great, and really seemed happy for us to be there. The room was clean and roomy, and we really enjoyed having a moicrowave and refrigerator also. The pool was nice and clean and warm. My only request would be that the pool hours be open longer...it did not open until 10:30 and closed at 8:30. So if you attend any of the area attractions you don't have time to enjoy the pool. The hours are much to limited! Overall we really enjoyed the place and will definitely go back.

Found hair behind the bathroom door, tables had sticky spots, hot tub was leaking, we complaint with the receptionist and with the cleaning employee, someone came and looked at the leaking hot tub but could not fix it until we checked out, the cleaning lady said she was going to take care of the problems (pick up hair and clean tables) but she didn't, we ended up picking up the hair and cleaned one of the tables, the other table still sticky (where the tv is)when we checked out, the receptionist told us that we were to be moved to another room (we stayed two nights) but they did not moved us. :(

Hotel was what I expected. Front desk person very friendly and helpful.

This place was so bad I went home and washed everything. I have never in my life felt so dirty. There was trash littered through the hallways, pieces of trash on the floor in the room, obviously had not been vacuumed, also white powder all over the floor. Large bread crumb in bed, along with hair. Woman in hallway screaming and cussing at her kids at 11:45pm. Phone covered in filth, phone didn't work, NO remote for the TV. Only ONE channel on the TV. Nightstand sticky and hairy. windows permanatly foggy. The only available parking is around the back of the hotel, with doors very far away, no lighting, NOT safe! Something splattered all over wall, bathroom floors FILTHY. Towels had hair on them. The little shampoo bottles they leave in the bathroom, had dirt in the rim like it had been used and refilled. I highly suggest you DO NOT STAY HERE.

Everything was great except for the tv it didn't work but they fixed quickly after we reported. We enjoyed our stay it was great . Thank-you

Very out dated for the amount of money you have to spend. The wood around the jet tub in the from is falling apart. Looks very 70's ish, but very nice hotel staff.

The AC was not on in the room so when we artived, the room was extremely hot. It took most of the night for it to cool down. The carpet was wet. The room had a foul smell. The hot tub features of the bath tub were removed. Breakfast was mediocre and many items were out- the lady working the room was not very quick to refill items. I would not recommend this hotel, even for the price.

Conveniently this hotel is surrounded by outlet malls, restaurants, laser tag, bounce house and is a short trip to Busch Gardens. The inside is no frills but still comfortable. There is a pool indoors that is cleaned daily. Complimentary breakfast had a big variety. The gym was kind of rinky dink but it served it's purpose. Overall we were quite satisfied.

It was nice. Staff was polite. Would go back . The only thing that bothered me was the toilet seat.

There is a small problem in the floor where I stay. Smoking from the room to the hall. I strongly suggest the smokers go outside for once (or QUIT).

Not bad, the room seemed clean and was fairly big. The rest of the motel seemed kind of run down. Could be a nice place again with some renovations. Close to Busch Gardens.

Old hotel, not much to it, breakfast, kinda disorganized.

My family and I were looking for an affordable place to spend the night, then head to Virginia Beach in the morning. Check in was easy and the afternoon staff were happy to answer any questions. Then...came the roaches. These nasty things were EVERY WHERE and we eventually got moved to another room. Though the second room was clean, (1st room had dirty bed sheets & toilet was broken) I was feeling a little sketched out. Night staff was rude & acted as if roaches were acceptable. If you enjoy clean places this motel is not for you!

The first day we had no hot water in room 506,The only clean things in the room were the sheets. The folding door was disengaged from it's track.Changed to room 115 the second evening. At least that room had hot water and the sheets were also clean. As to its appearance it was just as bad as room 506 with the addition of finding a sock on the closet floor from a previous guest.

The fact that this was a 2-star hotel made me know that there would be problems. The best thing about my room was the tub. It was huge and deep. The room and decor were very dated, but the bed was extremely comfortable. I had to request that housekeeping come and vacuum my room before I could get settled. The location of the hotel was great. The Howard Johnson franchise needs to invest the necessary funds into this hotel for renovation. They will easily see the return on this investment. It served my purpose for the time that I was there, but I would not stay there again unless major improvements were made.

i spend the night here with my daughter after visiting bush gardens, the hotel is located about 10/15 minutes from bushgardens and there is a wendys and a mcdonalds across the street, the room was very very clean without any smell. i will go back to this hotel next time im around bushgardens

Bathroom need remodel but still good, Table wobbled as loose, Fridge tilt back. Others than those, it's good room!
