Treat yourself to a well-deserved break in the midst of the marvellous mountain world of Toggenburg. The unique location at 1225 metres above sea level, directly adjacent to the alpine meadow, will also inspire you. The location is sunny all year round with panoramic views over the valley and into the mountains on all sides. Hiking, biking, skiing and sledging trails directly from the front door. It is possible to drive right up to the house. The house can be reached on foot in approx. 12 minutes from the Iltios mountain station. The Espel-Chäserrugg cable car is only a 6-minute walk away.
The holiday home is divided into 2 flats and offers excellent privacy away from the noise of everyday life. The flat was last renovated in 2022 to meet current requirements without losing the original charm of the 1970s.
The kitchen has been completely remodelled. New with oven, dishwasher and extended work surfaces above various pull-out drawers. All materials were carefully selected, harmonised and professionally processed by regional craftsmen. The floor in the entrance, living and dining area has been fitted with high-quality oak parquet. The dining area is newly furnished with an impressive view of the Alpstein mountains. The new spacious panoramic window invites you to linger or read and, together with the newly designed dining area, creates an exclusive ambience. The bedroom on the ground floor has been fitted with two new built-in beds made of spruce wood. Generous pull-out drawers underneath allow a comfortable access height to the new beds and are very popular with children and their grandparents. USB sockets and reading lamps are a matter of course. The attic room on the upper floor, which was built in 2019, exudes the fresh scent of local spruce wood. Its anteroom, which incorporates individual reclaimed wood elements, forms a cosy lounge with a classic sofa design from Ligne Roset. On the other side of the upper floor is the largest bedroom with two adjoining single beds and a wardrobe with a view of the Churfirsten mountains In 2021, a new PV system was installed on the roof, which supplies the house with as much solar energy as possible. The house is supplied with spring water together with the two neighbouring properties further away. In winter, winter maintenance of the access road to the house is guaranteed, but leads over the ski slope and requires appropriate winter equipment.

The other bedroom on the upper floor would be closed. -From 3 to 4 persons, the bedroom on the ground floor and first floor is included in the price. If the additional attic room is required, there is a surcharge -From 5 persons, the surcharge for the attic room as a third bedroom is already included and is indicated as over-occupancy in the booking, although the flat is designed for 6 persons. -Family discount: For 5 persons, the attic room can be omitted on express request. A wonderful location - in winter, be prepared!
Ideal for a small family - four ideal, five max. Beautifully warm. There's only one toilet - be aware. Kitchen is one person at a time, so it's small but well-designed. Bedrooms and bathrooms are lovely - comfy beds and modern bathroom. Sitting-room is perfectly adequate. Dining table is a bit rickety, lots of spillages as children come and go from table. Stairs down to ski room are extremely narrow and steep - do not be fat or old.
Outside, the location is breathtaking. Picture-postcard Swiss Alpine valley, looking north. Watching the sun rise and touch Saentis (the mountain opposite) early in the morning is awesome - as well as watching the late afternoon shadows creep back up the mountainside in late afternoon. In plenteous snow, you are right on a splendid (mountain) road-based toboggan run which is shared with a blue ski run down to the valley - so that in good conditions you would not actually have to drive anywhere. And the nearest lift is only 300m up the road (an easy walk, not at all steep, even in ski boots). But do bear in mind that you are already at nearly 1500m on the side of the valley - and it takes 15 minutes to drive up/down from Wildhaus or Unterwasser even in good weather. So a few cm snow on the ground down in Wildhaus can be very different up here - the house has plenty of snow-brooms and shovels, for a good reason! Strongly advise adequate winter preparation such as 4x4 vehicle, winter tyres and screenwash mixture down to -25 (near-neat). In fact, if you're not 4x4, a set of snowchains would possibly be required. Parking a bit tricky - narrow road.
In summer, I can imagine the place would be idyllic. You're already halfway up the mountain, for high-level walking. A plethora of marked paths.
There are three medium-sized supermarkets nearby - two in Wildhaus and one in Unterwasser. Skating rink in Wildhaus. Two petrol stations. Two cash machines. Very friendly and expert ski hire from Karl Alpiger Sport. Nearest Cinema is down in Buchs. Best swimming-pool and leisure complex by far is the Saentis-Zentrum, just on the western outskirts of St. Gallen - about 50 mins drive, but well worth it - it is truly amazing (Sfr 140 for family day ticket including two sports and all pools, slides, baths etc,).
Altogether, highly recommended: very few nationalities here other than Swiss/Austrian/Liechtenstein/German. Pretty undiscovered by the braying English halftermers. Hans-Peter has made a super house, and is a very welcoming host.
