Only stayed here one night for an event at the hotel. I paid for my hotel room with breakfast included through my Orbitz booking. Everything was great until time of checkout. The front desk desk receptionist asked me if I had breakfast and I responded affirmatively and he wanted to charge 26 Euros. When I informed him that breakfast was included in my Orbitz hotel rate, he stated that it was NOT. I asked him to wait while I pulled up my confirmation on my smart phone. While I was allowing other customers to be attended to at the check out desk, and still searching for my Orbitz e mail confirmation about my breakfast being included, the receptionist stated that he found something in which I was correct, that breakfast was in fact included in my hotel room rate. I dont know if this was an honest mistake on the front receptionists part of he was trying to scam me and get an additional 26 Euros out of me for breakfast! Other than this individual incident, the hotel stay was nice. The highlight was the breakfast, very good food and a nice variety.
We stayed in a junior suite, room 407, for one night. I had gotten a great deal at the time of booking ~100$ using orbucks and some special deal. The room was spacious and nicely decorated, the beds comfortable with extra pillows in the closet. Somehow I was under the impression that this hotel has a pool but that isn't true. The free wifi was worse than dial-up, even with full bars. I eventually gave up and used my phone, which was notably faster. I hate paying for wifi and the hotel did have some options for wifi with increased speed at additional cost. My largest complaint is the hefty additional cost that was tacked on for breakfast and parking, ~€50. All in all not an unreasonable price but it always feels sneaky when they tack on additional expense. Probably would not stay here again, lots of other good options in the area.
4 star hotel at best. Not much room service at night, and fitness facility has only 2 cardio machines, and 1 strength machine. Price jumps on dates of fairs, conventions etc., in Frankfurt, usually too expensive on Monday-Friday, and reasonable on weekends. Location is perfect for park and shopping. Trends to business types and not vacationers.
Bad Homberg is a nice 'suburb' of Frankfurt (about 45 minutes on train) and a great place to stay. The staff at the Steigenberger is wonderful!
