Has had a small upgrade since I was last there A spruce up rather than renovating Made the bar bigger at expense of some of the open lounge check in area which is fine The central chair area at check in I'm not sure about??

Hotel was centrally located. Very attentive staff. Located at a Mall, gives many dining and shopping options. We were part of a group and the facilities were awesome. I arrived a day early giving me the chance to better enjoy the hotel.

Service is what hotels are all about and I am afraid this one is slipping. Simple needs like a drink and bar food should be promptly catered for but the way the bar is run is a bound to lead to delays. Whilst there was enough staff this is the first hotel I have encountered where the serving staff take orders and also draw down the drinks involved, there did not appear to be a member of staff dedicated to staying behind the bar and acting as bar tender. This led to the staff missing customers and not being able to serve as they should be able to, the fault here lies with poor staff management and not the serving staff themselves. I waited 15 minutes in the lobby before finally going up to the bar myself in order to get some service, thereafter the food was fine and no problem except for an apple crumble being served with raw crumble on top, in fairness that item was removed from the bill but how it got from the kitchen is a poor effort. A mention for Eleanor and Kayleigh who did their jobs extremely well serving in the bar area, management really need to up their game from their side and the view of the kitchen through the open doorway at the end of the bar is not very appealing. Breakfast was another example of sloppiness, having waited at the reception table in the dining room the lady merely asked my name, suggested that I enjoy my breakfast and then she took off. I was left to find my own table and no one came near me to take a tea/coffee order until I finally had to catch the eye of a staff member with my request, again lots of staff but no cohesion. Breakfast was the standard buffet items sweating in those infernal warming bins, there were also continental breakfast items available. The room itself was fine with lots of piping hot water, car parking can be difficult to find a space, the free wifi worked very well.

Visited the radisson blu athlone for our 3rd time last week. I have to say the hotel is still stunning and picturesque but my how the service has gone down hill! The bar was bedlum and understaffed. We ordered food (after waiting 30 mins for service). We sat on the glorious decking overlooking the Shannon and waited and waited for our food. When it finally arrived it was delicious but we ordered drinks and they never arrived. We eventually had to queue at bar while out food waited. Breakfast wasn't much better. Again it was mayhem. No glasses for the juices no fried eggs! Nobody to order teas or coffee although we were told to sit and someone would be with us? We asked three different waiting staff and eventually got our tea halfway through breakfast. The staff do their best but their youth and inexperience shows. The management appear to wander aimlessly and never muck in or delegate. An awful pity as it is a lovely hotel in a prime location

Stayed here for one night recently. Beautiful hotel, very modern decor and very friendly and welcoming staff at reception, in the bar and the management. The selection of food for the breakfast buffet was really impressive and the hot food was quite tasty. We sat outside on the decking of the bar that night and ordered a meal and some drinks, it was lovely and relaxing with a lovely view of the River Shannon. Rooms are quite nice and spacious and beds comfortable. The only negative is that the room which was on the 5th floor was very hot at night time and we could only open the windows a little bit so i didn't sleep great due to the heat so a fan or two in the room would have been a bonus..

nice hotel, very clean, the wedding for amazing, breakfast was nice, nice city, super location, the food on weeding night very nice, I would recommend this hotel. free parking in front of hotel, quick check in and out,

The Radisson Blu is part of a chain in Ireland, and offers pleasant rooms and other attractions. Our had a beautiful view of the River Shannon. Across we could see the Castle which also was the site for the Tourism Center. The city is a small one, but offers pubs and restaurants all within a short walk. The most interesting site nearby is Clonmacnoise, a medieval monastery, founded in the 6th century. It was well worth a trip. There are bus and boat excursions there, but as we were free on a Monday, they were not available. Luckily a friendly Irish couple volunteered to take us in their car. This is one of many friendly gestures we experienced during our gwo weeks in Ireland.

Lovely hotel , great location , within walking short distance of town centre, good staff , lovely breakfast . Only 1 small complain , stopper for door in front of toilet , somebody bang toe , see can anything be done , but overall , v good

Stayed here last month. Room was really nice actually but breakfast was disappointing, even though I was down early, it seemed quite dried out on the buffet. There was brown bread there which was so hard it couldn't be cut, unhygienic also as no gloves or bags to grip the bread. I'd say stay in the room, but avoid the breakfast. Reception and breakfast manager were nice, very pleasant.

Lovely hotel. Usually has a wedding on most weekend nights during the summer, however it's big enough not to have a wedding take over the hotel. Got a quiet room but could still hear the wedding smokers at 2am!..
