Very comfortable large room (no.2) with views of the lake and golf course. We were in the original old hall set on an island in the middle of the lake. The hotel has a newer building on the 'mainland' too. The staff were very all very friendly and helpful. Good food was on offer in Charlies Bar which is less formal than the dining room but suited us fine. We did not make use of the indoor swimming pool however it did look tempting. A unique setting & lovely place to stay.
Went for a family meal in the charlies bar, staff were very accommodating as their were over 20 of us and was unable to reserve a table beforehand so they let us sit in a private room for our meal which was better for us and them, meal was nice good service and decent prices also would definitely recommend and go again. Lovely views and walk round the garden area.
We stayed for a couple of days to be able to visit The Yorkshire Sculpture Park and this was a great choice. Beautiful grounds and buildings, very clean and tidy, good quality food and excellent service. All added up to a super stay.
We were married here 09/04/17 the day was amazing start to finish. Nothing was too much to ask and Pauline and her team worked exceptionally hard to ensure all went smoothly. We had a red carpet to walk down after the ceremony and were handed a celebration glass of prosseco- a lovely touch. The food was delicious and the rooms were wonderful ...real luxury which we didn't want to leave! Visited the spa with bridesmaids the day before really good treatments and a friendly warm atmosphere. Overall we would totally recommend this beautiful hotel for a wedding. The photos don't do it justice the grounds are absolutely stunning. . Thankyou to all at Waterton for helping to make our special day extra special , Sarah and Mick Lambert xxx
On arrival we had one issue, which I'm not going to go into as the hotel manager listened to our complaint and took on board our suggestions, the manager was excellent. This hotel is picturesque, rooms spacious and clean. The room tea and coffee were of good quality as were the toiletries. Towels were white, soft and fluffy. The staff were so very helpful and polite, especially one young lad who was working in the bar on Saturday night, and took a part in the Murder Mystery, changed my door key card and then was at work again at breakfast. The murder Mystery dinner was good but I felt went on a bit too long. Food was good and tasty but was eating still at 9.45! Enjoyed the hotel with beautiful grounds, I would definitely return.
The staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. The grounds were amazing and we had good weather, which made it even better. We booked a suite for 2 nights on the island in the old house. Obviously the floor sloped and creaked, which added to the character. We had a four poster bed which was comfortable. The bathroom was ok, but I could not reach the shower gel dispenser and it could have done with a shelf to put toiletries and another towel rail near the sink. We ate in Charlies bar on the Saturday, I had salmon, my partner had belly pork and my daughter had chicken curry, all were very tasty. We used the swimming pool, steam room, sauna and Jacuzzi, which were very relaxing and only us in at the time we went. Sunday was the wedding and the room had been set up just as Sarah wanted it. Staff were great, checking with her certain details and the wedding went smoothly. The reception meal was great, service excellent. Anyone wanting a romantic venue without any hassle, (as everything is done for you), this is the place :-) The only thing to be aware of is there are lots of steps, no lift, just in case you have anyone who can not do stairs.
Went for a leisure and afternoon tea day with my two small boys. This place is amazing Surrounded completely by water this building is beautiful. Views from swimming pool are awesome and the staff were very helpful and pleasant. Changing rooms are immaculate and clean Afternoon tea was very nice with a vast selection, they even catered for two 5 year olds who had an afternoon tea of their own. A lovely day out had by all
We booked a executive room for our Son's wedding and we had the most wonderful weekend. We found the staff 1st class always ready to help and very attentive to all guests, the food was superb just has we experienced on a taster session in November. Our room was directly overlooking the bridge which was really nice, the bed was massive and so comfortable. Breakfast is served in the dining room and the full English is probably the largest going WOW. Obviously the weather this last weekend made for a great day, But once again thanks for everything that made the Wedding run so smoothly, memories that last for ever.
What a lovely day out, started with a spa treatment the girls were lovely and the massage was brilliant and the place so relaxing and spotless clean. then we went onto the bar and after a cuppa into the swimming pool with steam room etc and to end the day finished off with afternoon tea, a beautiful place with lovely surroundings including the lake well worth a trip..... enjoy :-)

Scenic tranquil surroundings, great decor, friendly staff, great food and a variety of wonderful function rooms.
