Leeds Marriott Hotel4.0 out of 5.0

Spent one night here on business. I was traveling by train and the location couldn't be more convenient. It is only a 3 to 5 minute walk. Directly arrows the street is loads of loads of retail shopping. There are several nice looking restaurants attached to the hotel but my customer choose a restaurant a bit down the road so I can't attest to their quality. The only real negative experience that is that I considers their charge for wifi to be unreasonable. It seems hotels in a slightly lower price category provide it gratis while this (and other high end hotels) charge. I think that the 20 GBP per day rate is the highest that I ever encountered.
We visited Leeds in April over the Easter Weekend to spend time with relatives. Got a great rate and a very nice room. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. Since it was a bank holiday weekend, it seemed like all of Leeds singletons were out on the town each night of our stay and we could hear the sound of music and commotion on the streets until the wee hours. We didnt mind too much. We thought it was kind of funny and once we got used to it, slept anyway. The only issue was the A/C heat....no matter what we did it seemed to be hot and muggy (it was unusually warm for the UK at that time of year - lucky us). Would definitely recommend the property to anyone who needs to be in Leeds. We also ate in the restaurant and bar a couple of nights and while the service was spotty the food was good.
We upgraded to a king executive room, which was very comfortable with a great bed and linens. The bathroom however was not good. The sink had poor drainage, the toilet did not flush properly, the shower smelled of urine. To step into the tub, it was at least a 2 1/2 feet. There were several bars to hold on to while getting in or out...kind of like a jungle gym. It would actually be rather dangerous for many people. The staff was excellent and helpful. The restaurants at the hotel were just okay. There are far better options close by...as in just across the street. The location of the hotel could not have been better. I would stay here again.....with a bathroom upgrade or at least with a bottle of pinesol.
