Holiday Inn Express Leeds City Centre Armouries3.0 out of 5.0

Although basic, nice centrally located hotel. Let down by breakfast and basic bar and restaurant layout. Staff very helpful. I would recomend this for a city break. Armouries museum is opposite hotel and city centre is a walkable distance.
The hotel was very cheap and and we had children with us so the location next the the armouries was ideal. Nice and quiet and a pleasant walk by the canal into town. As we were a family we requested 2 rooms next to each other, which we got, except one was supposed to be a family room and wasn't. They sorted it out however we ended up on separate floors and the family room was one of the unfurnished ones so a bit tired and poky for an adult and two children. The 5th floor room we had was very nice and newly decorated but was a shame we weren't both on the same floor. The buffet breakfast was good with hot and cold choices and staff were friendly. I think I would stay here again once its been fully refurbished though as it had parking next door and was a quiet part of town.
Very good location because it was next to a car park and also very peaceful area,we all had a very good night sleep. The beds were were comfortable, but the rooms were a little dated as we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Hull City centre the day before and it was all brand new, maybe it's not fair to compare.... But still we had a great stay and enjoyed the good service by the reception staff.A very big thank you to make us so welcomed! We definitely will stay there again next time we in Leeds!
Although conveniently situated this hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment, the rooms are shabby with peeling paint no where to sit, bad lighting and worn carpets. the plumbing was also a challenge. The breakfast offering was a joke, there was no cutlery, bread, food, plates, coffee cups etc etc... Having said all that the staff were lovely especially the young lady on the front desk at 2pm on 31st Jan and again on the desk at 10.30 on New Years Day.
Having stayed in many IHG hotels and needing a base to travel the next day, i redeemed some point to stay here. Checked in by Gianluca(?) and another lady who jointly checked us in, and check in was smooth and easy and professional hitting all the usual IHG hallmarks. The room was clean and what you'd expect. Clean, professional and had all the amenities. However, and may just be me, but there wasn't a phone in the room, we looked everywhere (we were in 521). Either way, me and my partner went out for dinner and returned very drunk in the evening. Since there was no phone in the room. I went to reception to order room service. My partner having been asleep, i decided to eat it downstairs. I was met and ordered my food with Amelia. She informed (after having ordered) the kitchen had no Tuna. I ordered Tuna Sandwiches. I changed my order to Ham and Cheese. Amelia then came back out with Ham and Cheese sandwich and to my surprise a bowl of chips, she said this was by way of an apology for having no Tuna. Well i thought that was a lovely and personal touch. We made small talk and i returned to my room. The following morning i had breakfast which was the let down. No staff to be seen. Sausages dry and as such were chewy. Bacon not cooked properly. Scrambled egg was also dry. I left for business back south and my partner checked out which she said went smoothly. All in all, very good hotel, clean, comfortable and judging by the service, well run. Just need someone to watch over breakfast and make sure you have everything for nights service menu stocked. Amelia was such a sunny member she deserves a promotion from what i saw of her guest interaction or at least employee of the month.
We had a recently renovated room that was nice and quiet. Breakfast was also good. Hotel is OK to walk to town centre. I didn't like the air con/heating until that you could not turn off so the fan was going all night. Be prepared to pay £8 parking (hotel price) as there is very limited street parking close. Do not park in the bays in front of the hotel or you can get fined.
Stayed here with family for the Christmas markets. Last time I was here it was all fields. Lovely clean hotel with secure car park, which you have to pay for separately. £8 a day. Room was a bit small with strange door that separated the room toilet and shower. Good idea though and impressed with the blue night light. The air con was a bit noisy and fiddly to work for me. The room was a bit small for a family room once the fold out bed was used. I couldn't understand what the long table tv stand was for (photo attached)could do with pulling it out and placing TV on the wall. Breakfast was lovely and arriving earlier is better when it's quiet. It was noisy outside on the Friday and was woken up 3 times. Saturday was quiter. Overall one of the better hotels and will be staying here again. PS check out the armories it's free and also Mumtaz for great food nearby
We, grandparents, our son and his two girls aged 15 & 10, stayed for one night on our way back from Edinburgh to Reading. It was every bit as good as any other Holiday Inn Express we have stayed in. We loved the fact that it has a restaurant that is open for dinner up until 10 pm, so handy when one is tired and not wanting to go out for a meal. The menu was not extensive but we all found something to our taste; I went for two starters, vegetable soup, served with a hot ciabatta bun, followed by garlic mushrooms and garlic bread, very nice. My husband had a beef pie, served in a ramekin, with peas and mashed potato, and said it was the best meal he'd had in the UK. Our room was clean, the bed comfortable and the area quiet. Breakfast was a continental and English selection - and as in these places you find your own table and serve yourself; just as we had expected. The staff we meet, reception, bar and dinning staff, were all very friendly. We'd go back if heading that way again.
Location was really good as I was going on a night out to The Docks for Xmas do. Room was very spacious, but room 220 had a smell of drains. I was a bit disappointed as there was no biscuits In the room. When I asked for some they said they didn't have any as they run out after putting them in the function room. Breakfast was an English breakfast. This was very nice. Plates quite small though. I would stay again if I go to the Docks for another night out.
Very disappointed! The only good thing is the location as it was next to where I wanted to be. The room was small and tatty. There was one plug socket, only enough milk for a cuppa, the quilt was thin and it was cold. The pillows were hard and in the morning the cooked breakfast was dry, obviously left for some time but not very nice. The tea and coffee was awful and there wasn't anyone there to welcome us/guide us to our table. Such a shame.
