Slightly disappointed with our night here, on check in we had to leave a £30 deposit as we were paying by cash, which made no sense to us as the guys on reception didn’t even ask us for ID. Our room was clean but basic, bed was comfy but as it was a strangely hot night for October we had to sleep with the window open as the lowest setting on the air con was 22° and as our room was at the front of the hotel we were woken numerous times. Location was good, breakfast was good, no onsite parking so had to pay for multi-storey next door. The armouries museum was great so worth it just for that and found a funky (rather expensive) bar opposite. Taxi boat just at the dock takes you into the city centre for free. Overall wouldn’t return here as it was very busy and noisy and not the romantic get away we had hoped for, would have preferred to pay a bit extra and stay somewhere more quiet.
We stayed here on a BandB basis for one night as we were watching Neil Diamond at the Arena. Car parking is next door and a voucher obtainable at Reception makes a 24 hr stay GBP 8.00. It is close to a Pizza Express and a Tesco Express right opposite the Armouries museum. The bed is comfortable and the shower is very powerful. Not sure you need much more for a one night stay. If I had a complaint it was the lack of staff at the breakfast for the last half hour of the service. Most things had run out, and it seemed a struggle to get them back on. Booked well in advance we paid 63 quid for the stay so really cant complain. All the staff we encountered were very helpful and both check in and out was simple and efficient. If returning to Leeds for a night, then this hotel is perfect.
Stayed here for a couple of nights for visiting art galleries and YSP. Had a great stay, couldn't fault it to be honest. Everything was good about the stay and the price is good too. The hotel is right next to the armouries museum and a short walk from The Tetley. Highy recommended.
Been some time since I have been to Leeds, this hotel was in the perfect location and quite which surprised me. Functional room, helpful staff and metres from my meetings plus plenty of food offers located near buy. Thank you will be back
Easy check in, basic but clean rooms, good breakfast. Given the location it was good value. Service was friendly at reception, bar and breakfast room at all times. Parking very close by at discounted rate.
Had four nights here, which I suspect is unusual. Hotel is probably better suited for travellers with little luggage. Particularly convenient for the Royal Armouries, which is why we used it, and a nice canal side walk to the city centre 15 minutes away. Or use the free water taxi if its running. You can not drive up to the front door, even to drop off luggage, though taxis are allowed to do so. Parking is about 100 yards away in secure manned 24-hour multi storey car park, and will cost £ 8 per night or £ 15 for weekend. Get discount voucher from the hotel and present to the car park supervisor for payment. The room : No drawers, some useful shelf space but my wife lived out of her open suitcases on the floor. If a lady needs to hang up a full length dress then she would be advised to bring her own hanger- and use the peg by the door- the 'hotel style' hanging area has limited drop. Our room [top floor] was clean, no blemishes, bed clean and comfortable, excellent free wifi . EffectiveAir conditioning and temperature control. Good lighting including bedside reading lights. Irritating that I could not stop the TV continually showing the speech-generated sub-titles. The well designed shower/WC area had an interesting door which could be used to close off the whole en-suite for total privacy, or could be used to close the WC cubicle only while leaving access for partner to use the wash basin or shower. [A facility clearly not spotted by a previous correspondent!] A night-light in the bathroom also illuminates the entrance area and makes it easier to make a call of nature without waking up a sleeping partner. Our room was quiet after 11 pm. We were lucky, no stag or hen parties on the same floor or outside! The dining area is comfortable and functional. Breakfast, adequate choice, but many hotels would offer more than four hot food options [sausage, scrambled egg, bacon and beans]. Packet cereals, bread and croissants supplied. Fruit salad three mornings, oranges on the fourth. Bring a small pair of scissors with you if you want to gain access to the inside of the current stock of marmalade/jam sachets! Notices in lifts advise when it is likely to be most busy -we had no problems, around 0830. Breakfast is included in the room cost. All staff - excellent! At reception we were dealt with promptly and politely every time. I guess many residents go out for supper but we stayed in one night and had a nice meal, quick service. One big complaint though. Others have reported this, and all our friends who were staying agreed, that it requires almost super-human strength to actually operate the WC flush buttons. Anyone with weak wrists or hands or a bad back, will struggle. They really do need to get this sorted. This is why I am not giving five stars, but I would use the hotel again if needing to stay in that area.
We stayed here following an experience with Schwarzenegger at the new dock. Couldn't have got a better location, it's right next door. Rooms were clean, comfy and a decent size. Coffee/tea and toiletries all in and facilities were great - red hot power shower and ice cold air con, what more do you need?! For the price this was well worth it - great check in and out times too and friendly staff! Unfortunately can't comment on the included breakfast as we slept in past the serving time! (Obviously making the most of a child free weekend!)
Hies, as called in its wifie, is a decent hotel with no sham or glam but works for a business trip. Breakfast is functional. Rooms are a little bit older. Recommended for a night stay but can find several better options in this price range
No reply to 2 feedback emails sent to the correct email address, so leave it here. Stayed here as a mere Gold member. The room we were given was not as promised and indeed the Aircon was not working. Staff moved us to 303...and although I accept the premise that HIX is a budget hotel model, the attached pictures demonstrate a hotel that really is in a state of disrepair. The walls are clearly in need of a decent coat of paint and the bathroom tiling is beyond repair...with virtually no grouting left and cracked tiles... I'm not sure what to think of these pictures but I'm sure they don't meet an IHG standard nor mine. I just wanted to share my thoughts and disappointment at the state of the room
Stayed 2 nights. Hotel full or nearly full each night. On the first floor. Corridor had unfortuanre odour of mothballs. Room adequate but very tired, especially the carpet and sofa cover. Cleanish. Very noisy at night as facing the waterfront and LOUD groups of smokers /hen parties/other groups gathered there at various times until 3.30am. No didnt call front desk at the time as I assumed they could hear the raucous group cackling and swearing and were too intimidated to act ! Breakfast was chaotic as hotel was full. Location was ideal for uni halls and easily walkable to the city centre. Parking was very convenient and secure (at exrra cost). Pizza express 5 minutes away as is a tesco express.
