This review is nothing to do with the gym facilities, but it is based on the blunt, eager to get commission staff which work at the complex and the customer service i have recieved from the staff at the gym. I went into the gym a number of months ago stating that i was thinking about signing up. At this point i was told it would be £10 for the day and this would be taken from my membership fee (if i was to sign up) which i found understandable. At the end of my session i enjoyed the facilities and was considering a membership. I mentioned that i could not afford a membership at the time due to more important outgoings, but when i could afford i would come back to set up payment and a membership. At this point a young member of staff said to me 'why don't you fill in all the forms to sign up and then the next time you come in the form will be filled in and you can start straight a membership' (which i thought was a good idea at the time) but i have later discoverd it wasnt as i haven't been back to the gym, due to financial difficulties. After a phone call two months later, i found out they have been taking money the whole time out of my bank account without my consent. I was fuming by this and think i deserve my money back. So therefore be aware and careful if signing up to this gym in future.
The staff was so welcoming and friendly. We have been to a few Holiday Inn hotels and this, by far, was the best we have stayed at yet. We thought we would order room service and again they was so helpful and friendly. The food was very good. The facilities on site are brilliant with the bar, pool and health centre. There is plenty of car parking too. There was a wedding on when we stayed and even though you could here it from our room, surprisingly, it was that loud you could easily ignore it. My only disappointment was the shower. Whilst in the shower you had it to the correct heat and then BOOM it was super hot that you had to run out. Nothing major and noted with reception on check out. Would definitely recommend.
The location of this hotel is good, with quick links to the M62 although not so close you can here it. The lay out is slightly strange with the rooms at 1 end of the hotel with the bar and restaurant at the other. It has a gym and pool, although I did not use them so can comment. Staff were pleasant and helpful although at meal time a number of them tried pushing us to order the special. It turns out there was a bonus for the member of staff who sold the most, which seems strange. Targets like these drive a certain behaviour which can be off putting. For me the price of the food is the biggest drawback here. When you are on a budget it can be hard to choose something on the menu which comes in under this. The quality is good but not excellent and it let's down the visit. As an example a bowl of curry with rice was over £15 which if I order one from the local curry house I know it would not be that cost. On the plus side, breakfast was good. Lots of choice on offer including a good fruit bowl.
Well presented chain hotel, with friendly staff. A guest of the day upgrade was provided which was a very pleasant surprise as were the two free drinks that went with the upgrade. A pity that the upgraded room had a faulty wardrobe door and a shower that didn't drain and flooded the bathroom every time it was used.
I've stayed at a few HIs and even more HIEs. This particular one was of a more unusual design which makes it stand out from many of the others which have little individuality. The stay was comfortable and enjoyable, but there were a few little niggles. First the pros: - powerful shower with easy controls - overhead main light in room (good for someone withy poor eyesight) - plug socket close to bed! - a decent hot buffet style breakfast - friendly helpful staff The niggles: - the hotel rooms are on ground and first floor but there is no lift. - there are function rooms which have to be walked past to get to the bedrooms, meaning a hefty hike! - the car park is on several levels with steep steps from hotel reception, not good with heavy luggage) (none of these is good when you're hobbling with gout!) - the restaurant was reasonably busy at breakfast but a lot of vacant tables had dirty plates etc - drinks (after 11pm ish) I was told could only be charged to the room and not paid for in cash
I have been visiting this hotel for numbers of years. I always found this hotel with a great service, and good food. Yes now is not the same. When you get to the hotel , you have to be very carefully, there is a small bar separating the way in and the way out. This bar is so small that you cannot see it if you drive a tall car. After the car park is always full, also from guests of sauna club, and you have to park far from the entrance, but walk three row of stairs, and few steps to go inside. When is raining or you have heavy luggage is not very nice. The hotel has a mediocre reception staff, not very friendly... Rooms are different level, if you ask for upgrading they may tell you wrong information. The standard rooms are very basic, no fridge and a boiler with 2 teabags and 1 coffee sugar. This is the standard of a renovated room. So is less than a b/b. I do not have breakfast in the chain anymore, as is always the same, not good value for money, in other words ..they rip you o... So why choose this hotel? Is not close to any town centre, brighouse is small town and the hotel is located not far, you need a car or taxi. Any good wiew? No. Is just near the motorway, tipical of Travelodge or similar, but much more expensive, so why? I also , personally had not a nice welcome and bad luck , although mentioned to be spire member, in having a basic or standard room. Is not worth. Also you have a spa. Yes you have full of people, but just member , not guests... Not a great experience
We usually stay at IHG group hotels including Holiday Inn because we feel they have a slight edge on competitors, especially for small families with young children but this time it was just the two of us. We wanted a weekend in Leeds in early October and thought Brighouse was too far out but it isn't. Transport links into Leeds are good, just a 20 minute drive away straight onto the motorway or by rail at least 35 minutes. Wherever we stay there's always something that could improve and recently in Heathrow there were plenty of things. At Brighouse there was very little to improve, it really was a breath of fresh air. From the moment we walked through the door and was greeted with such a warm welcome we had a feeling of relaxation and happiness. Not having our young children in tow may have helped but it threw me a little as I wasn't expecting it. Then entering our room there was another surprise waiting for us. Brighouse is the first hotel to acknowledge our anniversary. It was lovely from start to finish and it really enhanced our weekend. Our room and bed were very nice, clean and very comfortable. Our requests were met. The breakfast selection was very good and good quality. All the staff were happy and helpful and Louise on reception was fantastic. The indoor pool facilities and staff were also very good. Free towel hire, modern and clean separate male and female communal changing rooms with cubicle showers. Don't forget a pound coin for the locker if you need one. We will definitely be finding an excuse to go again!
What a breath of fresh air. From walking into reception to being bid farewell the following afternoon I can honestly say both my wife and I were treated like royalty. Every single member of staff we cam into contact with were fantastic! I'm sat here smiling as I type this review thanks to the memories I took away with me. Receptionist who 'Smile', bar staff who help you decide which Gin to order and with what mixer to restaurant staff who cannot do enough for you. Even the friendly Leisure Centre staff played their roll. I'm not going to waffle on about the amazing food, drink selection and wine list. Thats for you to visit and explore. What I would like to do is to pass on a heart felt thank you to the wonderful staff. You truly are " A Breath of Fresh Air" See you all again real soon The Wandering Walton's of Wardle
Stayed here for one night on a National Holidays weekend break . Everything from the check in , to the room , to the evening meal and breakfast , to the staff was superb . Unfortunately I was only here one night , next time I ll make sure it s longer , a month sounds good to me but I d settle for a week !!
We stopped in for an evening meal. Excellent fish, chips and mushy peas. It was really tasty, the customer service is really good, they do their upmost to ensure everything is served well etc. The environment is comfortable.
