This is a very nice hotel with friendly staff in a good location in central Leeds. Parking was fine, although there were only a couple of spots left when we arrived at 5pm on a Saturday afternoon. However, not far to walk. The swimming pool and jacuzzi area is very pleasant and accommodating with kids (best to keep the noise down though, as this is shared with gym / pool club members who won’t want shouty children). Food in the restaurant was very enjoyable, with the area itself appealing. Great deal on the children’s food too. We did the evening meal and breakfast - both very nice. Room was spacious for my wife and I, plus our two kids (6 and 4). Maybe needs a tiny bit of an update and the bathroom door needed some WD40 (surprised nobody had raised it before me), but certainly no complaints. If you happen to be doing the Leeds Abbey Dash 10k then this is a brilliant location - start line right outside the hotel. Overall, really nice place, pleasant staff and decent food.
I've been staying here a fair bit for work and thought very highly of the place until I had a slight problem with my dinner in the restaurant (that I still said I was happy to pay for), I could not have been any more polite and kind in how I went about expressing my concerns about my dinner to the waitress and manager but was totally shut down with comebacks from the manager/ supervisor working the evening of 3-8-2017, unacceptable attitude, she had no intention to try and understand why I felt the need to say something about my food, she was so argumentative! I won't be staying here again. A very good reputation ruined in seconds as far as I am concerned, I’ll be letting my company know not to use this hotel again.
I came for one night stay to go shopping with my sister. Arrived at the hotel at 10.45 and was able to check in immediately...excellent start. Our room had two double beds and was perfect, had no complaints at all. It had a fridge which was large enough to hold 2 bottles of wine, a very useful addition. Room also had bathrobes... unexpected. We had hoped to go out in the evening but my sister wasn’t well enough so we stayed in ordered Chinese to be delivered and that was no problem to hotel who provided plates ... Beds comfy and breakfast was excellent with a very friendly waitress. Stayed in lots of hotels in Leeds this is by far the best and wouldn’t stay anywhere else from now on, close enough being 10 minute walk to the shops. ... Well done Crowne Plaza for a 5 Star review.
This is the second time I've stayed in this hotel and I must say it is a brilliant hotel. The staff are amazing. James, Mohammed, Daisy and especially Mikey made us feel so so welcome, they really looked after us. We have already planned out next trip because of how lovely the staff are. Easy walking distance to the centre so great location. Well worth buying booking the club bedrooms for the 530-730 free alcohol. We love this hotel, defo the friendliest IHG I've stayed in. As a gold member I will most definitely be returning again and again. Well done to all the staff for making our stay fab! See you all soon.
The Hotel is situated at the west side of the city but only 5 minutes walk to some of the best bars and restaurants like those on Greek Street. The staff are spot on and the bar very nice. The rooms are clean and comfortable and solid for the money. The place is easy to find and also a fair bit of parking onsite for £10 overnight. More than does the job for somewhere to stay for the night.
I have now stayed in three of the superbrand hotels in Leeds and the Crowne Plaza is by far the best. Check in, super fast and easy (very friendly too). Lift to the fifth floor quick and easy, distance from lift to room was 15 seconds and the room was lovely. Very spacious, big comfortable bed with appropriate and effective lighting as well as good easy to use plugs and USB charging points. Two bottles of still water, good TV and Radio selection along with tea & coffee making facilities. The view was ok, but I was there on business not sight-seeing so not a complaint. The window was huge had I wished to open up the curtains. The bathroom was very fresh and clean. The bath large enough to take my tall frame and a lovely hot and large shower to wake freshen me up in the evening and wake me up in the morning. Breakfast was actually really good - this is so rare in a non-boutique hotel. Lots of fresh fruit, juice, cereal, bread and all the usual cooked breakfast but totally not over-done. there was an opportunity for options from a menu (freshly cooked eggs, etc.). Check-out was very fast and handled my the happiest smiliest employee ever. A great stay and will be my hotel choice for future visits.
Beautiful hotel with friendly staff who act immediately upon requests. The rooms are beautifully furnished and the heating / AC system is efficient and easy to use’ Would definitely recommend this hotel and I will certainly be returning!
The hotel was nice, breakfast was good and offered lots of choice, the room was clean and had little extras like mints and biscuits with the tea. The location is good, close to the city centre. The spa is nice and the staff there couldn't be friendlier or more helpful, we had a great time and wouldn't hesitate in coming back.
I am currently on my way home after staying at the fabulous hotel. From start to finish we were looked after and the staff made sure we enjoyed our hotel experience. We arrived at the hotel prior to check in and even though we were early, member of staff Mohammed on the front desk could not have made us feel more welcome. Due to my partner being a Spire Elite member of IHG, Mohammad went above and beyond to get us upgraded to a club room. While we waited in the comfortable reception area, another member of staff went to inspect the room for us. After a few minutes we were then given our room keys and made our way upstairs. The room was impeccable and we soon received a phone call from Mohammad to make sure that we were comfortable and everything was okay with our room. We then headed down to reception and were invited to help ourselves to the club members lounge. We took advantage of this in the early evening and were pleasantly surprised to be offered complimentary drinks from wine to beer to spirits and enjoyed some delicious canapés. We were well looked after in the lounge with a member of staff always checking we had what we needed and enjoyed our few hours there. We had an enjoyable stay; the beds were comfortable; the bathroom spotless; warm dressing gowns and lovely refreshments. We also enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the morning that we were offered at a discounted price. All in all a wonderful stay; we could not have asked for any more. I would highly recommend this hotel and we would definitely return and book a club room. Fantastic staff and a fantastic hotel.
My star rating is not at all fair considering the high quality of this newly refurbished Crown Plaza Leeds, but it does reflect my feelings as a longstanding IHG Ambassador and Platinum loyalty member through the last 20 years. The reason being quite silly some may feel, but for me a point of principle. If you use Crown Plaza Leeds free wifi, please be aware they have already pre-decided for you what web-sites you are allowed to access. DO NOT try to access any web-site with what they have decided contains adult material. it is seen as inappropriate to view in public - ie. your Crown Plaza Leeds becdroom is by their own definition seen as "in public". Makes you wonder what that little red light in the ceiling is and also makes me wonder are there any other "inappropriate" adult activities the Crown Plaza Leeds do not accept in their bedrooms? Maybe a note on the door with "pyjamas is a must, and hand on top of the duvet required"? This will be checked by the night manager. By the way, if you are gay, be warned, Gaydar is one of these inappropriate sites, but straight dating sites could be accessed. Discrimination comes to mind...?? And, interestingly, inappropriate adult sites - not quite sure what they mean, but the TV has pay for porn movies available - so is this in the end just a misunderstood revenue strategy? I certainly hope it's not a corporate IHG policy - they would never see me again - and I am sure quite a few others. I have cancelled my second night here on principle and will be moving to CP Newcastle tomorrow. Lets hope they have not been infected by the same "white as sheet" morality bug since last time I stayed there.
