A very tired hotel. You get what you pay for! Rooms are in bad need of an upgrade. Check-in was shambolic. Extremely slow with just one poor receptionist trying her best. Manager was standing about looking like a spare part. Dinner probably not worth the cost. Not a big choice however it was edible. Cannot put a drink on the room unless you have previously added a credit at reception, that doesn’t feel right. Car park seems to be full round the clock and if you park around the back of the building it’s a gravel surface with large water filled pot holes! Generally does not live up to the image one would have of a chain that attaches the grand sounding name of Britannia Hotels to itself. Again I would say you get what you pay for - it is the cheapest around the area.
Quick stay for convenience, sadly not to be visited in the future. Pros- price, bar food, wine selection Cons-tired, outdated, lethargic staff, tired surroundings (think builders cafe with accommodation) Avoid carvery as lacking in appeal , does not look fresh( opted for bar food instead) Parking not for the faint hearted as challenging with no lighting( I'm sure I've seen that movie) Breakfast warm, no pastries, moody staff again🙄 Overall impression- tired just like the staff Would we stay here again-uh that would be a big fat no
We went for a mystery coach trip and this was the accommodation, the room was in need of refurbishment but it was clean, the evening meal was carverey style and was quite good as was the breakfast. The bar area was a bit cramped with a lot of furniture in not a lot of space but our group found a quite corner and enjoyed the evening, drinks were reasonably priced for a hotel and London
Brilliant stay over the Christmas period 2017. Food was up to standard, although l found the drinks slightly expensive. The TVs in rooms need updating. Maybe need a slight refurbishment of rooms. Were comfortable. The staff were very friendly and polite.
Just come back from a mystery break over the new year Hotel needs some updating but room clean and warm ,plenty of hot water, food was quite edible and plenty of it ,the entertainment on New Year’s Eve was pathetic ,kthe DJ didn’t speak all night and the next night he made it obvious he just didn’t want to be there, not a hotel for a holiday ideal for a overnight airport stay
Just returned for a 3 night New Years Break at the Europa Gatwick Hotel and after reading all the negative reviews I'm not sure I stayed at the same hotel as a lot of the professional hotel inspectors that seem to have visited. OK, I admit the hotel could do with a little tlc and a lot of maintenance in some parts but it is an old establishment (I last stayed there in 1995) that's wearing well considering. Our room was OK, the facilities were what you'd expect and the food was plentiful and hot with a good selection on each of the three nights. As we were on an organised break with David Urquhart Travel we had entertainment provided and that is where the hotel failed to deliver I'm afraid. We had a vocalist on the 30th December and 1st January but on New Years eve we just had a DJ (?) who was stuck in a time warp - not everyone there was over 70 years old! It would have been nice to have had some of those small touches that help to create a party atmosphere - balloons, silly hats etc but all we got was a single party popper per person chucked on the table around 11.30! It was so bad that three of our party of eight resorted to playing cards for 3 hours! I can;'t comment on the check in etc as we were handed our room keys etc as we left the coach. One final comment from me would be the provision of newspapers at reception. It is over a mile away from the nearest retail outlet and as coach parties don't have transport it was a 20 minute walk each way for me and my wife! In summary, if you need a bed for the night before a fight it's OK but to stay for more than one night without transport I wouldn't recommend it unless you are prepared ot pay out for taxis.
Look beyond the décor, just returned from this mystery coach trip over New Year.. The hotel needs a bit of a face lift in parts but it didn't spoil our stay the room was spacious the beds were really comfortable with clean fresh linen .The bathroom needed modernising but overall did our needs, in the future I would request a walk in shower as I found it hard to get in the bath to shower as I am disabled but I managed . the room was on the first floor level with the dining room which was excellent the staff all over the hotel were lovely the food suited my friend and I .The entertainment we enjoyed each evening good value for money,
We traveled on 23rd December by coach, for a 5 day Christmas break at the Europa Hotel.and we were not disappointed. We were allocated a double executive suite. he bed and bedding were extremely clean and comfortable. The food was well presented and hot .Christmas day meals were a full breakfast, full lunch and buffet evening meal - all were most acceptable,There were two day trips included in the price of the holiday .One to Brighton the other to Central London.he only problem we encountered was on our first evening meal which was a little shambolic. However the staff headed by the Restaurant Manager worked hard to solve the seating problems
I will start with the good. The food was decent. There. That's the end of good. Here's the bad. Check in was shambolic. I was the only one there yet had to wait 15 minutes. The room was in a maze and no directions. The car park is as mud bath IF you can find a space. It's an airport stop over car park, but if you're staying you should at least be guaranteed a place. Room was tired and shabby. Dirty and dusty with a below par bathroom. Bed uncomfortable and very very small. Walls very thin. The people there on trips for the 4 nights were mainly old and very very rude. The queues to eat were ridiculous and on the first night we waited for almost an hour to be seated. Drinks were warm and expensive. Selection poor, and you couldn't even get a coffee or a cola until 11am. That's unacceptable. Entertainment was shockingly poor, and we were not made to feel welcome as we were not part of the "old people outing" although we had paid for full entertainment. The dj was more than useless too. There were two temperatures in the building too. Either 150 degrees or arctic. Not heating on when the oldies had their day out. Full blast for their return. The restaurant manager, although polite, was very disorganised as was most of the other staff. We resorted to the games room to get away from it. We did go to the pool. The cheek of it as we had to pay although we were residents. Lastly, the area was quiet rough so make sure you lock your car and your room window. Would I go again? Not a chance. Not even if I was on my last legs.
Seriously I would of rated this lower if I could. Me and my now wife got married on the 23rd we arrived on the 24th December. We chose this hotel as is was close to visit some of my family that lives in Surrey and we also wanted to visit Brighton. My wife booked it as it was cheap. We all know how expensive weddings are. So we booked in on the website the rooms looked lovely plus it's had a gym and pool we love swimming and love sitting in a sauna too to relax after. So we arrive at about 6pm after a long drive. We pay extra for dinner and breakfast the next morning as it was cheaper on arrival. Fair enough. So then we get to our room which we was told we were in the lodge round the corner. Reception staff very rude and dismissive of people stood at the desk. We got our stuff from the car and went round to the lodge it looked nice very secure etc managed to park outside the lodge. But then we got into the room. Baring in mind they knew it was for a honeymoon. No room to even swing a cat. "double" bed hardly dirty sheets dirty cups good job we brought our own. Stained bath dirty marks on the floor half used during box of tissues in bathroom. We forgot our Toothpaste and it was Christmas eve most shops were closed to we rang and asked reception to be told they didn't have any idea where we could get some from. Luckily I drove out and the service station was open. We went to dinner food cold the only thing nice was the dessert says it's a cocktail bar so I thought great let's have some to cocktails to celebrate our wedding etc no they didn't do cocktails very limited beers etc prices were OK though. But seriously that's the only good things about this hotel. We were meant to stay for 6 nights we managed 4 checked out early one perk was we got our 2 nights refund luckily. But no wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Even someone with no standards on places which is normally me just wouldn't hack it here. Rude unclean and just an awful stay.
