Copthorne Hotel London Gatwick

I could be so nice but it's uninspired. Good good, but staff at desk seems very uninspired. Too bad! Convenient to Gatwick.

I booked this hotel based on the fact that it has a shuttle to Gatwick. When I arrived at the airport the receptionist rudely told me that they have discontinued the service. Taxi to the hotel from the airport cost be 20 pounds each way! That was more than the cost of the hotel room!

I was so thrilled i finally found a really nice hotel, i stayed there coming into England & leaving. It was so relaxing there, good food, cosy, and the staff was outstanding. Then when I got to the airport to fly back to the US. I was told that US AIR will not be coming into Gatwick anymore after March 31 2013. That is a big disappointment, I hate Heathrow airport and so do many many other people, US & British.

This is the 4th or 5th time I have stayed at this hotel when passing through Gatwick, and for the first time my expereince wasn't so good. The room air onditioning wasn't working which meant the room got quite warm. Also the carpet in the room was dirty and in need of replacment. It is however still good value and very convenient for a one night stop at Gatwick.

The front desk was well run and efficient and speedy. The room although quite spacious was less than well planned. For some reason there was no hair dryer in the room, less costly rooms do have them. The rooms did look a little tired and need of a make over. Bed was comfortable and clean. I was using the shuttle to Gatwick but it seemed the hotel staff and transportation did not communicate with each other, you were on your own in that regard.

location was perfect for our travels up to London, and the south coast. Quiet, helpful staff. Would recommend to everyone.

The hotel grounds were the only nice thing about the hotel. The stay was so unpleasent that I forfetted the last nights charge for the room and relocated to the Holliday Inn Express in Crawley. The hotel was so dank and musty, it was unpleasent. I would not recommend this for anyone.

This is the second time I have stayed here. First time with my wife, this time alone. Both were great experiences. The price is right....less than half of prices in London city....it is 10 min from Gatwick..... total 1hr from downtown London and the sights. Bus to/from Gatwick is at least 1/hr and sometimes 2/hr. The hotel is an old farmhouse...added to. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The staff is very attentive. There is a fine dining restaurant, a good breakfast/lunch restaurant, and a pub. What else do you need. The fitness center is an LA FITNESS club....fully staffed. The local village is walking distance and there is bus service to Crawley (4 miles) with lots of shopping, etc.

This is our fourth time at this hotel and we love it evey time. Great staff, easy accss to London Gatwick hotel, extremely peaceful cetting, wonderful rooms

It is a wonderful countryside hotel that surprisingly caters to the business community. Service is outstanding and it is 20 minutes by hotel bus to Gatwick. The place is clean and kept well. Nice garden and the pubs are good to meet some local business folk.

I checked in at night and left in the morning, so I can't comment on the gardens. The room was fine, and the architecture interesting. My problem was that everything was an extra charge: internet connection, the hotel shuttle was just a bus route that ran every hour and cost L3 (I had to take a taxi at night for an extra L10), breakfast was L15! So if you're attracted by the comparatively low rates, just know that it evens out in the end. Fine hotel though.

Copthorne is an easy connection to or from Gatwick Airport. Taxie was 12 pounds or shuttle 3 pounds. Tis reccomended that one calls hotel for shuttle times as it doesn't run 24 hrs. But the taxies do. The place is well maintained, clean and has an interesting atmosphere of an "old english" Inn. Staff was efficent, friendly and very prompt in service. I would reccomend this hotel to anyone. A good value.

Hotel is set in lovely grounds, old buildings that have been joined together and modernized making a quadrangle type setting. Only two floors, rooms were spacious and comfortable. However we had to carry luggage upstairs and walk quite a long way to our room. Not really suitable for anyone with walking problems

For an airport hotel, this one is hard to beat. It is in a good location and although small the rooms are clean and comfortable. The only thing that lets it down is the food. On the night I stayed one restaurant was closed, the other offered nothing but a Mexican buffet and the bar food seemed to be reheated frozen food. Given that this hotel isn't close to anything, the lack of decent food options was a disapointment.
