Hilton Philadelphia City Avenue

3.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

The room I checked into smelled like a recently filled ashtray. (They were able to move me to another room.) Valet parking lost the keys to my sister's car and didn't report it to management. More general issues: on Sunday morning, the dining room closed at 11am. There was a lounge open but no sit-down meal service during prime brunch hours. The hotel overall is faded and needs to be renovated. The self-park is not conveniently located. In general, this Hilton lacks the standards and service you would expect from a hotel at this price point.

Good location, breakfast a bit pricey for the quality

I was disappointed that I was unable to get a late checkout after running a marathon, so I could shower. There also wasn't a microwave in my room or available, so I could make my oatmeal before the race.

No parking I had to park a half block away and walk back to the hotel with my bag. Bathroom vanity was in need of updating, peeling paint. No ice on my floor.

I enjoyed my stay here this past weekend. The room was clean the staff was polite. There were no hidden fees or complications during check-in. I would definitely come back.

Excellent! Friendly staff, very comfortable bed and clean room; loved it. The location was perfect as it was so near my son's home.

I loved it. The location was prefect and the staff was very helpful.

I stayed at this hotel because I travelled here for a conference. It's very different from the pictures on the website, it's a very old hotel in need up updating. The front of the hotel has stairs leading up to the door, and a ramp on the side that is not directly in front of the hotel, making getting luggage in difficult. The front desk staff is not professional and appears to not know how to do basic things like check guests in, they are flustered, and once they gave me my room keys said nothing else, so I just assumed we were through. The rooms are small and not laid out well, and the beds are old. Mold and mildew in the shower soap dish. My room faced the water reservoir which is a water reclamation area, not attractive to look at. Bad coffee. There were many small brown mice sighted in the conference room, they would run out from the walls and run into the kitchen area.... I expected more for a Hilton and for the rate paid. Choose another hotel.

we were close to all family even had family to come to Club Polo for drinks. This was by far the best hotel stay in last 20 years..

I have stayed at both Homewood Suites and the HIlton. they are excellent hotels. Very clean, courteous staff. close to pulic transportation to downtown Philly.

Staff was polite and helpful, the room was great size. Would stay here again!

good location. Easy access. Close to fairmont park.

The Philadelphia Hilton Hotel located at 4200 City Avenue is a good value as long as you don't object to a $20 cab ride back to the city. The staff was gracious and the breakfast buffet was fine. I liked the room, which was very comfortable. Because it's far away from the city, it's quiet.

Beautiful clean Hotel....It does not get any better than to stay at a Hilton... Yes...my wife loved the shower soap.

We traveled to attend our daughters college graduation. Even though the reservation was for three people, and we made the reservation in January for May, we were told the only room available had a singe double- not even queen -bed. The customer service manager at the front desk did not even offer an apology. She had more of a take it or leave it attitude. When I asked for a rollaway I was told that, "yes, it could be provided - for an additional $15 per night." The hotel is clearly "dated" and sorely in need of some cleaning up and modernizing. All in all a dreary place to stay.

YThe room and stay even the service was great. We were very upset when someone from management reprimanded a new employee for not having.g a machine cleaned the right way in front of us and other guest. The worst part of all was the manager couldn't tell the employee how to do it correctly. Making himself look like a bigger jerk!

The hotel was located approximately 4 miles from Downtown Philadelphia. The neighborhood located does not have many restaurants to accommodate travelers, but the restaurant inside the hotel makes up for it. Only down part I had was parking. Travelers must park on the street which is very congested during high traffic times or pay $5 per usage for their self-parking lot.

Nice, friendly, clean. Small details made trip not enjoyable. I've stayed here before and generally have no issues. This time, Room was set @ 60 degrees heat did not turn on ( even though I cranked it up) until about midnight. TV remote did not work and in room clock was off by one hour. My fault for not checking, but I ended up being 1 hour late to meeting following morning. Pillows had strong odor of chemicals.

The employees were helpful, curtious and kind. The rooms exceeded my expectations and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Hotel is lovely, as are the bar and restaurant. Room very comfortable (great pillows!) and staff is very friendly. Parking is limited without paying for it and need to climb steps to get into the hotel could be a challenge for some. convenient to downtown and both arts and parks. Will definitely stay there again if in Philly - previously stayed at Inn at Penn which is fabuloso but more expensive (esp parking) and less accessible for similar quality sleep/dining experience.
