They have a scam in place where they charge you twice for the same room. The general manager Amy Pittman, only wants to take your money. She could care less about you losing money. Besides the scam the hotel is subpar at best.
They developed some story about new ownership and charged me twice. When I brought this to their attention the came up with every excuse under the sun so they could keep my stolen money. Amy Pittman, the GM could careless about customer service, she just wants to take more of your money.
We stopped at the knights inn west memphis on our way to Texas after bad weather detours and driving late into the evening. It was so nice to be greeted with a friendly welcome from Allen at the front desk. We had a clean room, and good nights sleep. In the morning we had fresh scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage, and fresh coffee. We will definitely stay there again!
We have been staying here for over 5 years, since a change in management a few years ago signaled a new era for this former armpit/nose-hair motel...we always looked forward to seeing Alan and the usual staff taking meticulous care of this renovated facility...but when we rolled into the parking lot last week, it was readily apparent that something significant had changed...it looked like a deserted/neglected ghost town...we had made reservations personally with Alan a week earlier, yet when when we arrived, Alan met me at the desk and had no record of our reservation...so he eventually assigned us to a room that was so substandard that I’m still trying to figure out why we didn’t leave on the spot...the reception area was dimly lit...the pool was empty and obviously under repair (during the peak of the summer season)...our room was in total disarray...etc, etc, etc...I went to get some coffee for the queen the following morning and the usually bustling breakfast area looked like a skeleton compared to what it was last July when we were there...not a single person eating...no fresh fruit in abundance...just Alan standing there waiting for someone to place an order...it was like I was at a wake of a dear friend!...evidently, the former owner has sold out to Red Lion, based on their website and the responses to other negative reviews...so the meticulously caring former, patriotic marine has sold out to corporate America and Alan appears to be the last man standing...this one-nighter was the saddest experience I’ve had in quite some time...best wishes Alan and thanks for years of hard work and dedication...jump into the next Titanic lifeboat that comes available!
Would have rated higher except for the obvious. After the second night of four, I had three bites on my back, and four more on my right hand. Keep your luggage off the beds and floor! We stayed in room 101 with a king bed. Had to ask for toilet paper the first night. Breakfast was OK but not as advertised. Garbage can in the breakfast area was filthy. Booked this hotel based on positive reviews but obviously a big mistake!
Even though our check in was somewhat chaotic even though we had advanced reservation and the outside of the motel could used some major improvement our room was nice and the bed was comfortable so I was prepared to give it a 4. However, the the morning when we went to make coffee all the had was decaf and the coffee maker did not work. Worst of all by 7:05 the office was still locked and no breakfast. We left very disappointed. Will not go back.
We have stayed there a number of times, but I was very dismayed at the decline of the facility. Our handicapped room had no grab bar by the toilet. The tile in the bathroom was very pretty, however, I am fairly certain that the ceramic tile would be very slick when wet. While our room was comfortable and clean, the bed was entirely too high for most handicapped people as well. Our room had no regular coffee in the room. Upon asking, at the desk for more, they were out totally for the whole facility. I was told they would have regular coffee in the breakfast area in the morning. But the next morning, they were out of sugar as well. The breakfast tables had not been wiped off and the floor was very dirty.
Simple and delicious breakfast. Eggs and pancakes made to order in the morning and cooked by the desk manager-cum-chef himself. There were also sausage links, biscuits, gravy, and fresh fruit. The breakfast entertainment was an arousing discussion on who was the best batman ever and what's in store for the DC vs Marvel war. The king bedroom was spacious, clean and well furnished with the basic appliances and a big TV with basic cable. The parking lot is directly in front of the rooms. The location was great for attending the festivities in Tom Lee Park and Beale Street, within a short drive just across the river. The rent was a little overpriced for a hotel with similar features, possibly because of a busy weekend in Memphis. The green water in the pool was also an eyesore, but that might be on the way out with the summer almost here.
IF anything goes wrong the staff is there to fix it. Had issue with getting ice from the community ice machine. The front desk met me at the machine and helped “revive” it. The checkin process was quick and efficient.
We picked this place based on the glowing reviews, but for some reason, our experience was not the same. The room itself (126) was grossly stinky with musty funk, horrible enough to where sleeping outside was a better cleaner option. I tried to turn the fan to high speed to bring in fresh air, and of course, it didn't work, either. And you can't open the windows, so you are trapped in this cell. We contacted the front desk who said she would tell the oncoming person who was also the maintenance person. 30 minutes later, we called again, and of course, he had not been told. He came down to look at it, couldn't fix the fan, and said the solution was a can of Lysol to knock down the smell. He also said the hotel was full and there were no other rooms available (even though the parking lot was mostly empty and the next morning, we saw rooms all around us that had not been used that night). So, we tried to sleep, but every breath brought in the bad smell so we tried to use the sheets as breathing masks. In other issues with the room, they talk about their extreme military attention-to-detail, but there were dead bugs everywhere, live bugs in the corners, a pillow had a hole in it, and a hairball stuck on the wall in the bathroom. I watched the clock tick from 1:30 to 7:30 as I was counting the seconds that night would be over. They talked about the breakfast, but after the horrible night, it was nice that he takes time to hand-make pancakes and eggs to order, but that whole process added 20-30 minutes when all I wanted to do was get away as fast as I could from that place.
